Growing up watching movies like Star Wars and Star Trek, I could never accept the rebels in Star Wars as the good guys because they had so many aliens and minorities working with them whereas the Imperials on the star destroyer everyone was beautiful western European looking and human. I had to stop watching Star Trek after awhile because the Federation had so many flithly Xenos in their ranks and in Voyager they even had inter-species babies/people like the half-human Klingon engineering girl which is a horror and affront to nature and humanity. Being from a very homogeneous part of the country I realized that I just hate aliens and things that do not look like us or think like us. I would never be friends with someone not of my own race in the 40k universe or in real life.

Humans are naturally attracted to things like us and naturally repelled/disgusted by things not like us. There's no more human emotion than dislike or hate for things "alien" or not like us. I could go into why today's society got it so wrong with multiculturalism and etc but staying out of politics...

I love 40k because this is one place where they got it right. I don't know why so many science fiction has the disgusting aliens fighting with humans as the "good guys" and celebrates "diversity" when it makes no sense. Being human is to hate alien things. The Imperium is true to itself and its humanist values. It's beautiful.

Am I the only one?

See the fact you explicitly mention minorities says to me that you're probably joking, but these days it's really hard to tell...

The only xenos I hate from an out of universe perspective are those arrogant Eldar pricks.

You'd think a race who literally created an evil deity and destroyed their entire civilization through their own blind self indulgence would have a little more humility.

Why only Eldar? They are all disgusting every single last one of them.

Generally speaking? I actually like aliens in most sci-fi universes. I'll be naturally more inclined to support humanity, of course, but what's wrong with the occasional friendly alien? In 40k by all means purge the alien but not all sci-fi universes have xenos as awful as the ones in 40k.

In 40k I can't stand all humans factions. I only like the wolves actually. Generally speaking I always loved aliens when they aren't portrayed like feral beasts or monsters.

Humans are boring. I like my Fasntasy/Sci-Fi to be filled with non-human beings.
I like the Xenos so much, that the only human Faction I play is actually modeled as my favorite Xenos. I have 'counts as' Grey Knight conversions that are made out of Eldar Wraith-constructs to represent proto-type Anti-Daemon constructs.
I use them as a Nemesis Strike Force to go with my main Eldar army.

the Exodites don't seem that bad, at the very least they're not bothering anyone being Amish with Dinosaurs.

Then again they might be a lot less safe if the Craftworlds weren't manipulating all the lesser races into crashing into each other rather than anything important

As you can see I'm also a bit more sympathetic to the Eldar than many. Yes, they could stand to be a bit more humble given their history, but look at the Imperium. I mean look at it, as the essential example of humanity. It's not arrogance if you are, objectively, superior

Never! I shal bring logic and harmony to this land. My words shal bring light to the gloom of ignorance.

Seriously though, it really depends on the narrative of the story.

In 40k, things are just too desperate to be peaceful with a competing species. Even the Tau's form of cohesion most often comes at the end of a gun. The emotion I feel towards zenos in 40k is one of weary acceptance that aggression is the only choice left. I don't hate you, but it's either you or me so let's get back to killing each other.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

I don't think this thread can go any place nice, good, polite or productive, so, with that in mind...
