I've just bought some 1mm thick plasticard and having never used much of it before (Only some tile effect stuff used as roofs on some buildings I've made) I'm a bit worried that I won't be able to bend it. I'm needing to bend it round the front of a SM torso - is that achievable or have I made a cock-up?

Very carefully use a heat gun on it. And I definitely recommend a heat gun and not a candle or anything because it's easier to control, if you heat this stuff too much (and it's a very fine line) you'll end up with a warped and molten mess.

That's what I do and after many, many, ruined sheets of plastic I've gotten it to work. Try it out on a few scraps before going in for the real thing if you can. Good luck!

1mm may be a bit thick for that kind of stuff-so of the thinner stuff actually bends, and may be more in line with detail size.

Other then that, you can submerge the stuff in water in a mug, and microwave it, but it's a little less controllable.

My $0.02, which since 1992 has rounded to nothing. Take with salt.

1mm is probably a bit thick and inflexible for person-sized conversions requiring bends (but fine for e.g. vehicles) - .5mm or thinner would be better.

The Man's above heat gun advice is good. 1mm is too thick for the other classic bending technique - softening it in boiling hot water. Only use a candle if you're making Nurgle marines and don't mind some melty blobs

Damn - seems I have made a blunder. In truth, I'm not hugely disappointed as I have other uses for the 1mm stuff, but I just wished I'd bought some thinner stuff at the same time. Even so, at least when I do get some, I know that a heat gun is the way to go. Anyway, thanks for the help chaps (or chapettes I guess). Much appreciated!

I second this - Just got a heat gun about 2 weeks ago and it has proven to be invaluable. Found one at home depot for about $20-$25.
