When Shadow Force Solaq came out, I bought the box and built/painted the minis as the formation required. The Sternguard loadout from that formation is absolutely terrible, and I'm thinking of breaking the weapons off and giving them something else. Lately I've mostly been running the Talon Strike Force, with a Pinion Battle Demi-Company and a generic Shadow Force. I've thought of two options for the Sternguard:

A) Continue to use the Demi-Company and Shadow Force. Swap the current Sternguard weapons for 5 combi-weapons of some variety. The downside is that the best use for them (so I'm told, anyway) is in a drop pod... which means I'd have to buy TWO drop pods since I already have one and pods are best in odd numbers. Though now that I think about it, by running a TSF, an even number of pods might not be a terrible thing...

B) Give them all power weapons and run them as Honour Guard with a Standard of the Emperor Ascendant. Instead of the Shadow Force, I'd run the Demi-Company, Shadowstrike Kill Team, and Strike Force Command. Ideally, I'd want to put the Honour Guard with my Captain, but he has a jump pack and they can't take one. I'd also have to take the jump pack off to put them in a Razorback. Putting them in a Land Raider is tricky as well, because the only LR I have is the Prometheus and I can't find a way to fit that into the TSF.
