How do?
So some of you might've seen my other threads about an upcoming game, and a cunning plan to take on a Greentide.
It's a list for Game 3 of the upcoming London GT - I'm not taking part in the tournament, but providing a training game for my opponent.
Now I'm seriously out of practice at 40k, so this is more a list designed to pull off my cunning plan, and give my opponent a real challenge. Ultimately, I still expect to lose because I've not played for years, but I reckon I can hump his Greentide and Kill Bursta, which form the backbone of his army - I just need to remember to actually go for objectives!
And without further ado, here's my 1850.
Belsarius Cawl - 200
Tech-Priest Dominus - 105
Kataphron Breachers - 150
Two Torsion Cannon
Kataphron Breachers - 150
Kataphron Destroyers - 165
Skitarii Vanguard - 155
5 extra, 3 Arc Rifles, Omnispex
Skitarii Vanguard - 110
5 extra, Omnispex
Skitarii Rangers - 235
5 extra, 3 Transuranic Arqueba, Omnispex
Sicarian Infiltrators - 210
Saint Chris's Autopurger
Sicarian Infiltrators - 185
Sydonian Dragoon - 45
Sydonian Dragoon - 45
Sydonian Dragoon - 90
1 extra
Broad plan? Sicarians, nekkid Vanguard and Dragoons push forward to engage the Greentide - aiming to all arrive in charge range at roughly the same time. This should create a pleasant bubble of nasty effects. Sicarians bring him -1 WS, BS, I and Ld. Vanguard of course bring that delightful -1 toughness to the entire unit (and some handy extra attacks). Autopurgef of course brings a big arse detonation which should take care of a huge swathe of Orks (the more of the Greentide I get within 6" of the Sicarians, the deadlierer it is!).
The Dragoons? Well....they're there to pin him in place if needed. For reasons unknown, his Greentide only has a single Nob and the Warboss. Bit of cunning positioning I should be able to keep the only two models in the unit capable of harming the Dragoons far, far away - at least until the other three units get there (and they really need to bundle in together!)
Unit size choice for Dragoons is so I've got a sacrificial prawn to charge first, absorbing any Overwatch, leaving the other two (hopefully) unmolested. This bit depends on my units getting there asap, and typical Orks BS being cack.
Having done some demo rolling, assuming I can get 40 of his 100 Boyz in Sicarian range for that I test....I can take out all but the Warboss and Nob with relative ease - and with that level of casualties, doesn't matter if they smash up some of my stuff, as barring Snake Eyes, they'll be Over The Hills And Far Away...provided I don't run them down like Dogs.....
Kataphron are there to do what Kataphron do - break stuff, and bring horrendous firepower to bear, particularly on the Kill Bursta. Seems with a reasonable amount of luck, and a well timed Canticle, I should be able to Haywire it into the dirt in a single round of shooting. Vanguard with the Arc Rifles are there in case of mop up duty.
Without accounting for upgrades to his Greentide (other than one Nob and two Powerklaws), that should be in the region of 1150 dealt with - leaving the rest of his force at the mercy of what will hopefully prove to be the vast majority of my own force.
Oh, and Rangers are there to try to snipe out his sodding Painboy, as his demise of course makes everything so much easier!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Slight change....
Not taking the Grand Convocation, but instead Battleforged Cult Mechanicus, and Skitarii Maniple. Better special rules, spesh Scout for the Skitarii toys helping the whole 'push forward' plan.
