Having used the new(er) version of the citadel hobby knife, I have come to a point where the blade requires changing, however after sitting here from nearly 20 minutes now, I am still unable to remove the old blade from the handle, I've tried using plyers to pull the blade but cannot seem to get it to release, has anyone else had problems similar, is there a technique that should be used? I've never previously had problems with hobby knives until now any help would be appreciated

Maybe YouTube it? (oh and then bin it and buy a $5 Fiskars hobby knife instead)

Do you have the weird sliding one? (like a package cutter)

I took a look there's only really reviews on YouTube, definitely think a new one is needed, cant be doing this every time the blade needs changing! yes its the sliding one, I'm following the correct method of removing the blade but cannot seem to get it to budge.

Get a new knife. I recommend a plain old $10 hardware store hobby knife. Mine works just fine.

Yeah... don't buy citadel tools. They are basically universally over priced crap.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

@Bubber, thank you ! I see its very similar in way of which the blade is attached in comparison with the citadel one, hopefully this one is done with ease? if so I'll grab one to try out.

The trick is not to try to push on a new blade with a pair of pliers. You could end up with a severed nerve in your index finger...
instead pull the new blade on using either fingers or pliers (i use my fingers).
I have a ton a new blades (i bought a 100 pack, lost the pack so bought another 100, then promptly found the first pack) - drop me a line & i'll send you a few.

Are you sure you're doing it right? You don't just yank the old blade off, near the base of the blade (not the sharp bit) you have to push it perpendicular to get it to release. The instructions are written on the side of the box if you still have it, #2 shows how you have to pull the blade one way while using your finger to release it at the base.

The first 30 seconds of this video are just talking about regular craft knives, the rest of the video talks about scalpel blades like GW's.

Honestly the swan Morten style scalpal mounts are many times easier.

Plus new blades are 10p or less in bulk.
My handle is simple one bit of stainless steel and lasted some 5 years.

They just work

And I found a safer way to handle blades .
I use a fairly blunt cheap multi tool knife to ease it out and push the new one on with a notch in blade body.

I always have metal between me and scapal blade.
But that's just me.

I am a big fan of this holder and the small scalpel-like blade by Veritas:

It has a good feel and control with a holder that is easy to tighten well.
It provides good blade control and the smaller blade length with the cut-out in the middle makes them less "explosive" if the blade snaps at the base.
