About this project


Kev Adams, Tim Prow, Chaz Elliot and Phil Lewis are names that immediately invoke images of the old school style fantasy miniatures commonly referred to as Oldhammer. Heartbreaker produced many classic fantasy miniatures sculpted by this legends during the 1990s before going out of business. When Heartbreaker closed, Chris Bledsoe was given the masters for the miniatures line so that he could start his own company ZN Games in 2001. Unfortunately Chris passed away from cancer in 2002 and his goal of re-releasing the Heartbreaker line of fantasy was never achieved.

Impact! Miniatures has been working with the estate of Chris Bledsoe to complete his goal of returning these classic Oldhammer style sculpts to the marketplace. We could not think of a better place to start than with hordes of Goblins.

WHAT ARE YOU FUNDING

The project goal when reached will fund all the costs needed to mold the old masters and bring the first 3 Heartbreaker product lines selected (Kev Adams Goblins, Tim Prow Goblins and Fantasy Artillery Team) back to market.

THE MINIATURES

All the miniatures available in this KickStarter will be cast in high quality spincast resin. All miniatures are supplied unpainted. All miniatures will come with a 25mm slotta black plastic base.


KEV ADAMS GOBLIN SET (31 miniatures - $35) - This set includes all 31 of the Goblin miniatures shown



FANTASY ARTILLERY SET (15 miniatures - $35) - This set includes all 15 of the miniatures shown immediately below for the Ratmen, Goblin and Undead artillery teams.



TIM PROW GOBLINS SET (16 miniatures - $29) - This set includes all the Goblins shown immediately below.

CHRIS BLEDSOE PAY-IT-FORWARD MEMORIAL FUND

With the approval of Chris Bledsoe's Estate I set up a small charitable fund in Chris' name. 10% of all sales of any of the miniatures from Chris' Estate put back into production is put into the fund which is used to help miniatures based KickStarters to succeed (note this happens only for sales after the KickStarter since no KickStarter funds can be used for charitable purposes). Kev Adams goblins are the best Goblins.

Its a shame that my little man fund has already been spent for this month but at least it sounds as though they are getting a retail release.

Wow, check out the tags on the models. I think the "HHG" was for Heartbreaker Hobbies and Games? Now that's old school!

Wish these were metal instead of resin, but can't argue with $35 for 31 quality sculpts. Backed for a set of the Kev Adams goblins, will likely add more depending what gets unlocked.

I think I'm going to have to change my stance on never backing another Kickstarter, great minis, great cause too.

Impact Miniatures has run several KS, and I've backed and had fulfilled one of them. No complaints. I *think* his miniature KS have all been in resin, but check his prior projects.

Whats the deal?

Basically it's down to the history of the Heartbreaker line

The original Heartbreaker fantasy minis were sculpted by Kev Adams, Phil Lewis, Chaz Elliot and Tim Prow. Each sculptor had their own range. They were cast in lead, although towards the end we did get some pewter castings mixed in-

the stuff listed on the Ral Partha Europe site is just the leftover stock from when we (as Gamecraft) were UK distributors. (that's why we don't have the full ranges, and varying stock levels of what we do have).

There is some interesting history in the miniature world for sure. Amazing the masters finds their way to be cast again!

I've also a vague memory that subsequent to that RPE may be able to cast new minis of some of the heartbreaker line but can't figure out where I've got this from

3 STRETCH GOALS UNLOCKED! Wow - Orcs, Dwarves and Elves!

Okay just as I left for the day ... we unlocked Stretch Goal #1 but then overnight we unlocked 2 more and the another one is coming soon! WOW! Thank you backers!

So what unlocked was 3 more MEGA sets ($35 each). Based on the voting by the backers the top 3 vote getters that unlocked were: Kev Adams Orcs, Kev Adams Dwarves and Chaz Elliot Elves.

Next Stretch Goal is at $2700 and will be Tim Prow's Rats with Kev Adams' Demons

Additional rewards were added for getting 4, 5 or 6 sets.

Now when you see these images the details will be a little more difficult to see because these are the metal masters that were originally used by Heartbreaker to make the production molds they used. So they have a dark tone from having been used in the past however they are still just as good now as they were over 20 years and will produce minis just like the Goblins and Artillery Teams shown in resin from the first 3 sets that we had test spins for already. So more details although Thank you Orlando for helping answer this one.

Chris Bledsoe used to work for Heartbreaker and Ral Partha and was one of the key employees at Heartbreaker in their miniatures development. Chris helped create the rules for games like Warzone, Chronopia, Mutant Chronicles, and Crucible. When Heartbreaker closed down, Chris was given the masters for many of their miniatures and given permission to get them back into production if he wanted to as part of his own miniatures company that he planned to open. In 2001, Chris Bledsoe opened ZN Games and begin producing adding new and old miniatures to his company. Unfortunately Chris became very ill with cancer and it claimed his life in 2002.

Now the interesting thing is ... I had no idea about the Heartbreaker arrangement until 2015.

How did I get involved ... on January 23, 2007, I reached out to Kevin Bledsoe (Chris' father and controller of his estate and ZN Games properties). I was looking to get a license to cast the ZN Games Ulfhedner which was a unique new sculpt that Chris had done for ZN Games by Clint Staples. A license I was finally able to get on October 6, 2008. This was the only figure that I ever had from ZN Games for a long time but I did stay in contact and let them know I was interested in working on the rest of the miniatures. At that time though Kevin and partner were trying to relaunch the company themselves.

In May of 2014, I was notified that the attempt to restart ZN Games was being cancelled and would I be interested in licensing the miniatures from the estate and seeing what I could do with them. At this time ... I still was not sure what was all in the estate of Chris Bledsoe. When Kevin Bledsoe asked me what to do I said ... take everything from Chris' workroom no matter how insignificant and box it and send it to me. I thought it would be probably be a few boxes. Kevin asked me to do whatever I could to get everything his son was working on to market for the miniatures and I agree. Then to my surprise June 27, 2014, I'm informed that a 900! lbs. pallet was on its way to me. And there were boxes ... many many boxes. There were boxes in boxes. There were unmarked molds. There were notebook and notes. As a mini company owner ... it is one of the few very emotional moments for me. I realized that this was not a small few figure company that I was working with. This was a man with hundreds of miniatures he was working on with notebooks with ideas for many more after those hundreds. Here was the dreams of a man who got robbed of them way too early. And here I was with the task of doing the best I could for him and his father to bring it back to life. It took many months to go through every box, categorize it and then in many cases write several emails to understand the history of the miniatures as much as possible.

And that leads me to the boxes marked Heartbreaker which I when I accepted the role in June of 2014 had no idea was part of Chris' estate but was able to talk to several former people with Heartbreaker and Ral Partha and realize that yes he did have the rights to the masters in those boxes. At the time I did not have the money to bring them back to market and it was a daunting large project. However KickStarter and improvements at my caster has finally reached the point where I can bring these great old miniatures back into production.

I've done earlier projects and with this one I will have managed to return about 80% of the estate of Chris Bledsoe to market if we unlock all 9 stretch goals for the current KickStarter. I have plans to get the final 20% into production by end of 2018 so that I will have kept my promise to Kevin and get everything his son had and was currently working on into production.

10% of all sales of any miniatures from Chris Bledsoe's estate goes into the Chris Bledsoe Pay-It-Forward Memorial fund which is a non-profit that I set up in his memory. The money from that fund is used to help miniatures and miniature games on KickStarter get funded.

24hr later ... FUNDED and 5 Stretch Goals reached. Wow ... just wow. Thank you backers.

Since the Stretch Goals are dropping so quickly I've taken all the feedback from the comments, my messages and Facebook to lay out the plan for the Stretch Goals going forward.

The winner for the vote for Stretch Goal #5 was the 16 miniatures Tim Prow Elves MEGA set.

As you might have noticed if you get 2 sets or more, you get them for just $28 per a set. With all the sets unlocking I reduced the price per a set as you get the higher pledge levels (7 sets and up). If we unlock all the stretch goals, we'll have 12 sets of minis and the pledge level to get all 12 is set at just $25 per a set.

Love Kev Adams goblinoids. Not a fan of resin though as compared to metal.

Aren't these done in the Trollforged resin?

The stuff always seemed closer to plastic in terms of resilience and texture to me than typical resin (which I tend to associate with being very thin and brittle).

Now whether to get rats or goblins, neither of which I have in any large capacity any more...

Undead for me, Orcs and Goblins for my son... Looking forward to July!

Stretch Goal #10 unlocked! 18 more minis for Stretch Goal #11

We reached $5000 yesterday and unlocked Stretch Goal #10 which means that if you select a BIG set instead of a MEGA set if you pledged for a rewards where you get 2 more sets that you'll get $6 to use for anything you want (another set, a subset or unlocked Add-ons). Thank you backers.

And to that note of being able to use extra monies for add-ons ... I have the first unlocked Add-on as well. Based on backer request I have been able to research and add on the Tim Prow Minotaur w/Axe (Heartbreaker #3602) as a $3 add-on. If you would like one you can increase your pledge by $3 and when the pledge manager comes out after the KickStarter is over you can select it as part of your reward.



And now Stretch Goal #11

So I was struggling for what I could do for good new stretch goals and then I remembered a box I had set aside temporarily as part of Chris Bledsoe's estate. The box had 74 different masters from Heartbreaker's Earthdawn range that I've already negotiated agreement from FASA to bring back if I can. So I definitely think we can get all 74 of those back into production as well over the next 2 weeks and it keeps with the original theme of the KickStarter to return the Heartbreaker masters to production.

Stretch Goal #11 will unlock at $5500 and will add a MEGA set of Earthdawn Orcs & Big Monsters to the KickStarter.

(18 minis MEGA pack for $35 / Big Monsters 6 minis SUBSET for $15 / Dwarf 12 minis SUBSET for $24 )



I will be working to have some type of stretch goal every $500 to $600 to make sure I can thank our backers for their help in bring this range back into full production

Stretch goals #12 AND #13 reached last night. #14 for Humans & Elves

The Backers keep rolling along ... which is awesome to see. So yesterday after my update we broke through 2 more stretch goals.

This unlocked the Earthdawn Monsters MEGA set (which included a dragon miniature) as well as the Earthdawn Dwarves & Mages MEGA set. (along with Earthdawn Dwarf and Earthdawn Mages SUBSETs).

And as of this update we are only $80 from unlocking the Earthdawn MEGA set of Humans & Elves. Which is Stretch Goal #14 unlocking at $7000.

So with Stretch Goal #14 that will unlock all the Heartbreaker masters that I currently have licensing to cast (have about 75 more but still working on the licenses to re-release them). So starting with Stretch Goal #15, I'll start adding some free miniatures to certain sets as extra freebies. I realize that this will not effect all the backers with each stretch goal but it is one of the best options I have (as I cannot afford to give out an extra free mini to everyone with each $500 goal reached). In addition, to adding that mini for free to a given set ... I'll also add it to the list of add-ons at a reduced price from normal expected retail in case anyone really wants that single figure included in their reward. These extra free minis being added will also be from the old Heartbreaker range (although on some Chris Bledsoe modified them for games he was working at with ZN Games).

Thank you backers for how much success this project has had ... unlocking almost 300 new miniatures in its first 5 days is amazing.

Stretch Goal #14 reached! Stretch Goal #15 Free Goblin mini

Last night we unlocked Stretch Goal #14 so the Earthdawn Elves & Humans MEGA set is now an option for the KickStarter. Thank you backers!

That leads up to Stretch Goal #15 which is where we start giving out free minis to add on to certain sets as well as give them as an add-on option.

Stretch Goal #15 will be at $7,500. It will add on Heartbreaker 2026 Kev Adams Dark Goblin Champion w/Mace as a free extra miniature in the Kev Adams Goblin MEGA set.



In addition we'll make this figure available for anyone else that wants one as a $2 add-on item.

Stretch Goal #15 AND! #16 reached last night ... more free minis added to sets

We broke two stretch goals last night ... incredible. Thanks backers.

So we unlocked a free Kev Adams 2026 Dark Goblin Champion w/Mace being added as a free extra figure to the Kev Adams Goblin MEGA set.

We also unlocked a free Chaz Elliot 5015 High Elf Noble being added to the Chaz Elliot Elf MEGA set.

Stretch Goal #17 is next and unlocks at $8500 which will add a Chaz Elliot 5028 Undead Lord with Sword to the Artillery Team MEGA set.

I've planned out extra free miniatures to sets all the way through $15,500, so I look forward to the backers knocking down these stretch goals and getting free miniatures added to all 16 sets!

Stretch Goal #20 unlocked ... Stretch Goal #21 almost here

Over the weekend we unlocked Stretch Goal #20 and now a free Chaz Elliot 5018 Goblin Hero has been added for free to the Kev Adams Orc MEGA set.

We are $110 away from Stretch Goal #21 at $10,500 which will unlock a free Chaz Elliot 5029 Undead Lord with Scythe to the Phil Lewis Undead MEGA set. This figure has been added to the Add-ons for $4 as well.

We are still on track to unlock at least one free miniature for all 16 sets so I look forward to working with the backers for the last 4 days of the KickStarter.
