Hi there folks, long term lurker, first time poster.

Ever since that PC game game out, I've found myself drawn back to Battlefleet Gothic. I've got a few mates interested, but given after market prices, I've ended up scratchbuilding some stuff. Here is the Gigathrust, a Terror Ship.

It consists mainly of some off-brand lego, plastic tubes, glue, bits off a ship kit, green stuff, more glue, plasticard.

More to come to, as I got lot of stuff off ebay, if people are interested.

I really like the scratch built ship, especially the nice and firey engines. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the fleet!

Neat! I love the whole void ship modelling side of 40k it's not something you see very often...

Thanks for the encouragement, I have another update for you. I've been doing up some ramships, which would be finished if a pot of blue hadn't leaked...

Here's some other ships I've been working on, starting with a Ravager

Here's a killkroozer that I'm modding into a terror ship because, well, terror ships are more immediately useful in game and bits were missing.

Incidentally, I see where these get their reputation for being base breakers. Terribly front heavy.

And the second scratchbuilt terror ship, it has a comparatively small set of eight engines, and is unfinished.

My thoughts while building these have been to follow the "scrap metal with a face" style of the line-art, rather the "piranha/boar" style of model GW actually released. The next major build will be a Hammer class, but I'm awaiting an Imperial hull to improve. I've got some daft ideas for a space hulk, but I want to get a bit more practice in first. In the meantime, detailing work on the kroosers, and a lot of drybrushing.

Oh sweet. Gigathrust, love it. "scrap metal with a face", yep sounds about right. Love the scratch builds.

Excellent I had a go at this myself. Yours are better however

Absolutely love the conversions / scratch builds!! On the paint scheme, maybe. a little more damage? The blue feels like it shouldn't be so pristine on such a ramshackle ship, and the metal areas could be roughed up in a number of ways . These might not exactly translate to a space-faring vessel, but Gitsplitta has a few nice tutorials here:

I've always wanted to do a rusted-out looking space fleet myself, not sure of the fluff justification for it but I'm sure with orks there's a way given that they have flying rocks and the like!

Thanks.

Ah, I think that's possibly my non-existent photography skills at work there. The flash makes it look brighter than it is. That said, you do have a point. I do need to work out how to weather these things. I'll take a look.

Hi there folks, I have an update for you.

First off, I painted 20 brute ramships. In the name of sanity, I will only show three.

There is no great tactical thinking here. I'm just planning to show up, and outnumber the enemy fleet 2 to 1. Its traditional

The second Terror Ship has reached the basecoat stage.

I am open to suggestions as to what to call this. Something-face?

I also attended the Robin Convention on sunday, and got many bits. This seemingly luminous white hull will eventually be a Hammer class. Not sure about the engines, I put an array of 12 on at first, but the proportions looked daft and Freudian.

Up next, dry brushing the terror ship and some Onslaughts.

Thanks, kestral.

My apologies for the lack of updates. Real life, and all that.

Presenting the good ship "Gitface". Needs some touching up, but its about done.

And here's some Onslaughts in Progress.

Hi there folks, got another update.

Been working on the Hammer class, so here's some pics. The resin and plasticard continues to defy my photography. This makes the ship look like luminous parsnip, my apologies.

Up next, detailing, painting, etc.

First off: I'M NOT DEAD. I have just been dieting....

Sorry.

Anyway, just been waiting for the spark of inspiration to strike when real life isn't being a distraction. I've got the Onslaughts done.

Thank you sir, here are some more pics of the hammer in progress. Assuming any detail is visible despite the luminous resin...

It needs more detailing, but I've found myself making it slightly more Imperial in silhouette. Its meant to captured hull, after all. Particularly pleased with the under-slung turrets, though.

Up next: detailing and painting. I'm hoping to get a game this Easter, where-upon my entire fleet will explode due to new model syndrome.

Sadly enough Orks don't need new model syndrome to explode in BFG. The fleet is rather underpowered and needs to fight at extremely short ranges to be effective. Basically if my opponent closed with me I did fine as Orks are ok at the close range brawling but if my opponent held the range open weeeelll turkey shoot came to mind. The ordnance fleet with massed Terror Ships and Ravagers with luck can be amusing though.
