What this boils down to is that eventually they will be releasing an Angron daemon primarch model. And is the case in the fluff he has a bodyguard of 12 bloodthirsters.

So far I have two bloodthirsters and skarbrand, I do like the new kit but there will be a point where they all start looking the same. I was wondering does anyone here have some good ideas for converting said kit to make it a bit more unique?. I'm not a conversion expert whatsoever and my green stuff skill is ... questionable. I can do little things here and there but nothing amazing.

So does anyone have any tips or ideas for a beginner at converting like me?

Have you had a look at the Mierce Infernii range?

Mierce can be pretty expesive, but produce the highest quality miniatures I've ever come across.

Also, if you don't fancy shelling out for the full model, they do sell bits individually (axes, heads, arms, wings) which could could certaily use with other miniature to kitbash some really interesting daemons.

Arm wise you can always swap the weapons around to add more poses and variety.

Ie: cutting the single handed axe off and the whip, then swapping the arms they were with.

Head wise you could always go with masks?
Something like a imperial knight or defiler mask should fit pretty well and blend in with his armour.

Even basic things like assembling the legs at slightly different angles and using GS to fill the gaps would add more poses.

Hope some of that is useful.

These might work, or try older versions, for subtle differences.

Its hard to be awesome, when your playing with little plastic men.
Welcome to Fantasy 40k

If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.

Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

The problem with the two kits above is that they're a good deal smaller than the new Bloodthirster, and they'd work excellently as Daemon Princes, but the size difference could present a problem for using them as Bloodthirsters.

I have and they are beautiful models, the £120 one is lovely but he's more An'ggrath than just a bloodthirster? The smaller ones are nice still but not quite what I had in mind, also if I can stick to GW I will just because of the whole 'You can't use that here' down at the shop.

Maybe using a piece here or there to convert would be ok though.

Yea I was thinking maybe some head/arm/weapon swaps may be the best route to go, I'd like to do one where it's holding an enemy but the problem is I also use these dudes in AoS so it's hard to pick something for him to hold!

The legs are a good idea, but as he is kind of leaping off the ground it would be probably beyond me to convert it, skarbrand would be better as he's firmly planted.

Nice models but yea as mentioned I think they look a little small.

use some chains+glue to swap the whip out.

You can als make a cool bigger loincloth with GS.

Or make a cloak, costume with some rags and some powertex? (powertex makes cloth plastic-hard when dry)

Another way to change the model is to make the bases a bit more scenic. Like have one slashing a SM rhino in two pieces. etc etc etc...

Creature Caster, if they get their gak together, makes a war Daemon. Looks pretty cool.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Build a story for each guy and work from there.
In a classic action movie you get the sniper, the scout/shamanic guy, the meathead, the tech/comms guy, the noob, the weapons expert, the demolitions guy, the close quarters killer/knife guy, the tough chick, the old wise guy that's seen it all before, the pair of brothers, the crazy guy, the scrawny assassin, the medic, the pretty boy etc
Try to fill these classic roles with khornate equivalents and begin to model accordingly.
Take a look at the World of Warcraft movie or Lotr movies. They're all Orcs but they've had some character injected into them with some of these classic tropes.

Just because the new kit is way too darn big does NOT mean you have to match that size for future conversion. Remember that the current DP kit and the plastic Balrog noted still a bit bigger than the old metal/finecast sculpt of the BT - WHICH IS STILL A VALID MODEL TO PLAY.

If you are doing a body guard of BTs, I would use the new kit as D-thirsters and a mix of Balrogs & converted DPs as the rest
Here's my BT/ Khorne DP:
Spoiler:

He is a DP with an Ogre mount's head. I converted him before the plastic kit was released and he is physically the same size as the BT that was available then.
I will fight anyone* who says I cannot still use him as a BT just because the newest kit got a ridiculous size increase.

*with polite words, or course. I don't take this game that seriously
