Yeah, I can't say I like the red stripe. Especially since I don't really like freehand (even relatively easy stuff like this) painting. Plus, I only think it looks half way good on the beakies. It looks like I do have the option of a red insignia from the picture you have there. However, I feel like I already have enough red on the models and what to add a little more color to them so I will keep the white.

My thoughts (I don't know if it fits the lore yet) on the fluff is these Fallen Dark Angels are part of larger Black Legion warband (the rest of the Dark Vengeance set) that mostly eschews Daemons (I like chaos space marines but don't care so much about the demons or chaos god part) and serves Abbadon as recruiters for the Black Legion itself. The fallen send out targeted vox calls to lure in imperial units to make them doubt the empire and/or force them to join the Black Legion which do seem to have the most open standards to join out of all of
40K.
As for these Dark Angels, they have completely bought into the idea that Abbadon will replace the Emperor. They actually think the loyalist Dark Angels are the villains (seriously what 'good' organization keeps that many secrets).
So not scratching out their insignia (they don't seem to have the double eagle anyways, just wings with a skull or sword) serves three purposes: (1) it tricks/confuses those who don't know about the fallen, (2) reveals there is something amiss with the Dark Angels, and (3) shows they have absolute faith in Abbadon to become the true Emperor (or Horus should he return).
As in the case of the movie Office Space with Michael Bolton, "Why should we scratch out our logo, their the ones that suck."

This chapter looks great when I am just playing Dark Vengeance as Dark Angels vs. Black Legion. However, I am also planning on using most of what I can from the box to put together a regular Black Legion (in terms of fluff) army that is more renegade with allegiance to Abbadon than having anything to do with demons or Chaos gods.
I still don't know if going with the Chaos Space Marine codex if I am basically going to create a Space Marine army mostly with Chaos Space Marine models. It would be a lot easier if I knew I could make a Chaos Space Marine army with only non-demon, non-chaos god marks, non-specific chaos marine types (e.g. plague marines). Either way, I think I will lose every single game (which I don't mind), I just don't want it to be a blow out every time.
