Hi Dakka,

I've recently completed my 1st model for my new Tau army that i have just started after xmas. I've settled on a white and grey colour scheme but i'm stumped for ideas for a basing solution for the army.

I want something fairly quick, simple and easy to do (as you can see i'm not the greatest or fastest painter).

Any suggestions, links or ideas you think would compliment the fairly monochrome paint scheme would be most appreciative.

Maybe a light dusty sand base- zandri dust base up to a lighter paint maybe ushabti bone or lighter

cork sheet torn up looks quite good as a rocky ground and is quite cheap on amazon for a roll

also a few tufts of grass https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Middenland-Tufts

Did you know? Every sunday from 12 to 5 pm you can get a carvery for £6.95 at the pudding and pye.

Road markings are pretty easy to do. There standard GW Base texture works quite well for it.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

First that is a great looking model.

Second, cork is cheap and easy to work with, and some red sand or some other color sand would be an easy and simple base to have for it.

I would stay away from snow, just because I think it would take away from the model, but just my opinion.

Hi all,

thanks for all your help. I've decided do go down the cork route with an urban ruins kind of vibe. Whilst the pictures below are not finished (still need to do a 2nd coat, drybrush and add in some weeds / tufts of grass) i'm quite happy with the result. I didn't want to go down the snow route (as awesome as snow bases can look) as i felt it would be too much white on the model.

Regards

Paul
