Hi there,
I have modeled a cool looking character in a cataphractii armor, and I would like to play it.
However, I have realised that a praetor already have a 2+ armor save, and refractor fields are cheap. So buying him a terminator armor would be a bit stupid.
Then I have thought about a Primus Medicae.
An apothecary could do the same job (5+ fnp), but without inv save and without the powerful weapons and good profil available to a centurion.
Do you think it is useful ?

What character would benefit from a cataphractii armor the most, according to you ?

Unless you face nothing but Str 8 weapons, it's a rare case that an apothecary isn't going to be useful, especially for expensive units.

As for which characters benefit the most from Cata armour, probably the apothecary since you really want to keep him alive for the second save at all costs though since the only point to taking a HQ apoth instead of an elite (other than slots or specific legion restrictions) is for terminators, you're probably wanting him for combat, and that usually means sweeping with tartaros. A forgelord with conversion beamer or a master of signal in a heavy weapons squad probably aren't going to to be wanting to run, sweep or fire overwatch much, so the extra protection comes at minimal cost to them.
