Subject: Locomotion for nurgle rhinos?

So I have two rhinos I've converted and nurglified for my death guard army and they are both treadless as one was mostly scratch built and the wheel mounts I used had no treads and the other was a really old one I got in an eBay lot and had no treads. Just trying to figure out how to represent locomotion in them either with or without treads and still be thematically nurgley! Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe tentacles coming from within but idk how effectively I could pull that off and I feel it would require a whole mess of greenstuff and I'd rather not spend too much more money or time on the conversion side of them so I can get them primed and begin painting them. Any ideas would be appreciated!

I'd suggest getting some small chain and winding it around so it looks like manky old rusty chain replaced the tracks.

Hmm not a bad idea! Would be relatively cheap and doable too and easy to paint up all rusty and worn. Might give that a go on at least one of them! Gonna check my local toy/hobby shop to see if they have a good size chain for that and if not, I'm just gonna hit Home Depot for some! Haha

Or make them hover-rhinos, by adding anti-grav techy bits to where the tracks normally are, and ideally adding some flying bases so that the rhinos really do 'hover' a few mm above the ground.

1) Slug power! It might not be very fast, but that slimy foothold will make the Rhino laugh at difficult terrain tests! Particularly Nurgley too. Unfortunately I don't know what the base part or a slug/snail is called. Must be complemented with at least two eye storks!
2) Legs lots of legs! Chitinous legs e.g. from Chaos Spawn or Tyranid parts, the more the merrier. Its no longer a Rhino its a Centipede! (Perhaps even lots of zombie legs, powered by many nurgle Fred Flintstones...)
3) Insect power! Have the carcass hulls of the old Rhinos born aloft on a swarm of insects or perhaps just have many bugs or bug wings merged with the bottom so that the Rhino's glide along the floor under leg or wing power.
4) Daemon power. Get summoning some friends of Nurgle such as Nurglings or Plague Bearers and make them carry the Rhino. Too cheap to summon? Get your cultists to carry the weight, as we all know Heretics have their uses!
The list is endless, unleash your creativity and hopefully your modelling skills will do wonders. Good Luck

Interestingly enough, I was toying with this idea too. Especially if, like me, you have a lot of spare Genestealer Scything Talons arms, on account of not using them on your Genestealers.

If I could find all my old tyranids bits I'd definitely have enough scything talons to do this but alas I couldn't find quite a large chunk of my eldar stuff when I went down to Cali to retrieve my models. Maybe next time I'll take another look

I'll second the slug foot, it was the first thing that came in to my head, and would be easy enough to green stuff.

Nurglings! Make it a giant Palanquin!
You can make some from card too.
Take one narrow strip of card and run it around the wheels. To make this easier, you can hold a blunt knife perpendicular to the length of the card and run it down the length of the card. This will cause it to curl slightly, making it easier to fit to the wheels.
This provides support for the next level, the treads.
Take a slightly wider strip of card. You won't need to curl this one. Instead, score the card horizontally at 5mm intervals. This will give you a long strip of rectangles.
If you like, you can make a stamp to detail each tread. An alternative is to emboss the card by using a sharp pencil on the reverse side. You can use this technique to add rivets or edges. To make impress rivets into the card lay the strip of card upon a rice mat and run a pencil along the length of the card with a ruler. Each crevice in the rice mat will result in a rivet on the card.
If you are lazy, you can just attach the treads without extra detail and instead detail them with painting or weathering. I tend to do this as most of the tread isn't very visually exposed anyway on rhinos.
Here is one of my attempts at home made treads. Pretty plain, but functional enough for me. I'm still fairly novice at these things so want to nail the basics first before I try too much!

Great idea and it worked well! Actually thinking about it, your home made treads are probably more historically correct with the fluff. After 10,000 years or so of constant use and warp exposure those original tracks would have worn out immensely. The tracks would have become slack, the tread work flat to a glimmering polished metal shine and the wheel runners would have been worn greatly just like a vintage crawler tractor today. Also Chaos forces to my mind would never recast identical imperial tracks in replacement. Why would the forces of Chaos still have those track plates that have the imprint of the Imperial Eagle anway? Obviously its because GW don't want to cast a set of chaos tracks for vehicle kits at extra expense but my point still stands.

Hmm...maybe...
1.) Thin card wrapped around where the tread would be. Superglue in place.
2.) Take a wide shoelace with a bit of texture to it. Glue it on top of the card.
3.) Coat it with thinned down white glue (PVA glue, Elmer's). Not so much that you lose the texture, but it stiffens up/won't absorb too much paint.
4.) Prime black and basecoat grey, followed by a black wash. Your Rhino now has a 'rubber' tread!
Results NOT guaranteed, I'm spitballing here.
