As a Stormcast Eternals player, I have become quite ‘down’ on my army. I was quite excited when I started playing Age of Sigmar a few months ago, I got my box of minis and even started painting them. However, I have a grand total of 1 win with them. Every time I play them, I get tabled by opponents that dish out handfuls of Mortal Wounds every turn that I have no defense against. My shiny, expensive, heavy-armored super-warriors just melt away. So far, since I do not have some of the required models, I have not tried out the formations where you can deploy some of your army via Lightning Strike, and I hear the new Stormcast army book has changed all of that anyway.

Can anyone offer any advice to help me keep my models on the table? I get really tired of playing miniatures games where it seems like the ‘good’ guys are always at a disadvantage. Personal preference, I know, but I am just not attracted to the sculpts for the ‘evil’ guys.

What are the armies you are having problems with? I will say though that the solution may be to ask your opponents to tone down their lists; matched play can get pretty unbalanced.

Alternatively get the new battletome and run either Aetherstrike Force or Vanguard Justicar Conclave battalions using Longstrike-Raptors as both those are pretty OP.

Skaven armies fielding cannons, abominations and screaming bells are popular here, also armies with big undead skeletal dragons... Terrorgeists I think they are called, are also very common. I have also been beaten down by Chaos armies that at least wait until we get into melee before unleashing all sorts of mortal wound stuff.

Paladin Protectors with starsoul maces should help you kill monsters like abominations or terrorgheists and throw out mortal wounds of your own. Vanguard Hunters can be useful for coming in behind enemy lines and attacking artillery. And as mentioned before a longstrike-raptor battalion will just shoot those problems to death.

But, in good manners: What do you run? Stormcasts are a slightly above average army usually - depending on your list. Hell, I was tabled by them in round two on the weekend (vs my Legion of Azgorh army) - with that skydrop bs battalion whatever it's called.
You're also new to the game - it is something that you learn to be better at, as you know the rules you forget things less often, you know how to deal with specific enemies, you know your army better, you make better calls on what takes priority etc. Get in more games and learn!
But shame on your friends for not going easy on you as a new player.

Skybourne Slayers? You'll be happy to know it's been phased out and isn't in the new battletome, once GHB2 comes out it will probably be gone for good. Also, the Knight-Azyros was nerfed by removing the ability that allowed lightning strike to ignore the 9" minimum range.

Yeah that was the one. 5" away and able to reroll charge rolls. Such a bummer - I don't think either of us had fun.

My local gamestore sold out of the new Stormcast Eternals book immediately, so I am awaiting a restock. My AoS collection so far is still fairly small:

1 Celestant-Prime
1 Knight-Venator
2 Fulminators - (best performing unit so far)
1 unit of Retributors
1 unit of Decimators
2 units of Liberators
1 unit of Judicators

1 Excelsior Warpriest
1 unit of Sisters of the Thorn (Wood Elf) - Christmas present, it's good to have friends, right?

Sisters of the Porn can be useful with Stormcast since they are a wizard (that Stormcast otherwise lack) and because their signature spell makes units horny with re-rolled saves, which is potent on high-save Stormcast units. Added synergy with the Castellant as well.

Take Knight Vexillor, teleport Decimators/Protectors with Starsoul maces near to the biggest threat. I'm playing skavens against this combo and sometimes it is very difficult. 2xd3 wounds and guys are resilient...

Ha, still did not get my hands on new Battletome. But this is good news. This skill was painfull...

Either way, now with new rapid deployment playing Stormcasts is even easier.
