Fluff wise, the older a Chaos Spawn, the likelier it is to grow in size. Imagine the size Chaos Spawn could reach that have existed since/before the heresy. With that in mind what would be fair rules for a Spawn larger than a Giant Spawn?

I'd been thinking that they would have all the normal rules of a Giant Spawn but would benefit from:
+2 Wounds
+1 Toughness
+1 Strength
+2 Attacks
GMC type

1-3 as a LoW slot (as single entries, not a unit, like Giant Spawn)

It would keep it's 4+ save rather than improving it as that is a major weakness of Giant Spawn and should remain part of its characteristic. Of course GMC rules will be granting faster movement, Stomp and FnP, so it needs to be costed appropriately. Does double the price of a Giant Spawn at 160pts sound a reasonable cost? Or are we talking closer to the 200 mark? Or is 160 too steep in your eyes?

You're in a bit of an interesting conundrum with this idea. On the one hand, it has all of the strength and destructive capability of a GMC, namely the stomp attacks. But on the other, it lacks in armor and durability.

What I think you should do is use this profile, minus the GMC rules, as a MC spawn. As for the GMC version, I would focus on one really big one, rather than a potential unit of them.

A GMC at 160 points? I think that feels a bit too low, or just not GMC worthy.

So if we are talking GMC, thinking closer to the 200 mark despite it's frgility for its points? There are ways to get around the lack of armour such as using intervening models to give it a 5+ cover after all. I definitely wouldn't have thought it'd be worth less than 160pts but it is definitely a glass cannon compared to any other GMC.
If running it with the above profile but lacking GMC rules (but with say, Beast profile instead), what points cost would be appropriate?

As a MC/beast, I'd say 130-160 per is a pretty good window. Though I will also defer to those with more experience at costing than myself on that.

The issue with the GMC at that price, as Smudge has said, is that it is cheap as chips for the stomps, which is really what you're after with something like this. The best tactic I see with cheap GMCs would be to just charge as fast as you can, hoping to get those stomps off. Nothing wrong necessarily with being a glass cannon, but when you can have 3 glass cannons for a cheap cost is when a problem might crop up.

That's a good point. So keeping it at 1 choice per LoW slot if remaining a GMC and taking it up to 200pts. Dropping it to say 140pts if an MC beast instead (being a beast ensures it can keep up with it's smaller friends). Say 160pts if we include FnP? So basically all of the above minus stomps (and other benefits GMCs get over MCs such as ignore ID) would be a good profile to keep it at the 160 mark right?
