After seeing the new R.Guilliman model and the size of him compared to marines a question popped into my head. What size was the emperor? He is portrayed as being near the height of a primarch in the famous pic of him in his golden Armor facing down Horus over the body of Sanguinius. But he wasn't created like a primarch or even a space marine he was human (though created by the death of ancient Terra shamans) did he even have space marine enhancements? Second hearts etc. I've not read any HH novels so mayby a lot of this is covered in there. Please educate me!

Whatever size he wanted to be.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

He mastered gene craft to point of making marines, custodius, thunder warriors and primarchs.

I think he could of gene altered self or instructed other in perfecting his physicall form.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

5'1" (and a half)

Honestly. The whole 'great crusade' thing was just a massive case of short-man syndrome.

Eldar and Orks being generally tall is probably the reason for the whole 'purge the xenos' thing too.

The Emperor is plot-sized.

Need him to duel a mouse in the mouse's home? He can fit.
Need him to chokeslam a warlord titan? He can do it.
Need him to hide in a crowd? He can totes do that too.

Empy is op af.

the orc warboss was THAT powerful. think of the beast awakens books, and realize that they wheren't as powerful as the empire of ulanor. it makes you appreciate just how epic that victory was. and why the emperor after it figured it was a high note worth leaving on. the Emperor proably knew that after Ullanore it was BASICLY just clean up/mop ups

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

What size was the Emperor?

I've heard tell of an ancient codex hewn from the warp-infused flesh of heretics which confirms he was a size 12, but could squeeze into a 10 in Topshop.

Just rumours though.

My head canon is marines 7", Terminators/Primarchs/Awesome Marines 8", Emperor 9" but with the ability to alter his size/how he is perceived.

Cite: None comes to mind but it seems right.

Nah, nah, nah. All marines are minimum 10" tall. Primarchs go up to 15".

40k models are not to scale. Look at imperial guard vs space marines. R.G. is big because they want him to be a centerpiece to the army.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Fark. You want bigger marines? Wait a few months, we'll somehow get a written sauce for 30" tall mareens

Haha brilliant

I also love the subtle connotation that it's all made up. That's the line I tend to take with the whole mythical past of The Emperor thing.

Think of what real-world religions do with their icons: they make up crap to make them seem more impressive.

Take Jesus. If he even existed, I'm fairly certain he'd have been just a normal dude. As the decades pass, stories of his exploits (written in a countless number of different iterations of books) become wilder and wilder. Now, in the present day we've got a Holy Son of God who could walk on water, turn water into wine, resurrect himself and heal the sick.

Apply that realistic view of religion to the Emperor, and what you get is a clever warlord born during the Age of Strife (first time there's actual bonafide evidence of him doing something), who through his own wits and scientific brilliance conquered Terra and forged a galactic empire. A powerful man, brilliant scientist, talented psyker and likely genetically engineered, but a man nonetheless. Not a God.

Then, after his internment onto the Golden Throne, there's 10,000 years of Chinese Whispers twisting what he actually was into the religious dogma we see in the year 40k. If you can get the level of twisting that turned a regular man into Jesus in just 2000 years, imagine how much can get warped in 10,000.

And, get this, because of the way belief works in 40k, the fervent beliefs of billions upon billions of humans across the galaxy have birthed a God in the image of their beliefs of The God-Emperor of Mankind. Or, at least, facilitated his apotheosis into a warp entity.

Seems much more realistic to me. And, if I'm honest, makes for a much more compelling struggle than 'Space-Nazi Superman conquers the galaxy'.

And...this one time...he caught a void whale and turned it into enough food for the entire Segmentum Solar

Yes strange rambling priest dude. That sounds completely plausible

I also think it had something to do with Horus being saved by the Emperor earlier on in the Crusade. Perhaps it was a case of 'well, I don't really need help but I don't want Horus to look all glum and down so I'll throw him a bone'.

No pity, no remorse, no shoes
