Before you say "Lysander" or Something ill have to post the rules

No Points (This is the Problem)
Single Model only (E.G if i took Celestine her Geminae Superia Would not be with her)(Stuff Like Genestealer Familiars are Exempt)
Instant Death is Ignored (Including Double Strength Instant Death)
No Summoning
Turns are Taken by Drawing dice out of a bag every phase, so you might be the first to move, but the last to shoot
Forge World Allowed
No 30k
Vehicles allowed (but only if they have the Character rule base, buying an upgrade (E.G Pask) to get the Character Rule is not allowed)
Yes Magnus is allowed, but i dont have Magnus
The Battle is going to be in a 24" Radius/Diameter (Not sure which) Circle, so Close Combat will be the main Focus

Who Should i take?
Im thinking Crowe, but his 2W stings

What should you take ?

A fun character that has some form of mobility in the form of jump packs or bikes etc. your most favourite warlord or that character you never played but would really like to play.

What is the cheesiest thing to take.
Some of those nasty FW titan class greater daemons who also happen to be characters

The Tzeench dude would just wreck the board with his staff...

Yeah...hate to say it...you need a big nasty with a ton of attacks. A Slaanesh Daemon prince with whip and biomancy, a LoC, Magnus, something like that. And you need something mobile. A Slaanesh prince flying around can do massive damage with the whip ability and iron arm.

Magnus will wreck face. Expect a bunch of him. Or any available primarch.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

It would just be Magnus in the Primarch Category, as the game will take place before the 40k Gulliman comes out (and 30k isnt allowed)

Magnus is almost a no brainer. Or Kairos.
Personally I'd take FW Mortarion, Fulgrim, or Angron.
The FW Titan-class Greater Daemons would be a good choice too, particularly the bloodthirster or keeper of secrets.

Ruling against Celestine is bs! It's up to you Commander to argue and do the sisters proud!

I'd troll the gak out of people with her, even if you didn't win...it would be awesome.

Well, im also thinking Cawl as Instant Death (His Biggest Weakness) is Removed, He restores D3 Wounds a Turn, has a S10 Gun and an Extra 2D6 S4 Attacks

But Celestine with Geminae is Just OP, and at least half the board would attack me if i took her

We've earned the right to be OP at least once in history of the game.

Chaos Lord
mark of khorne
juggernaught (or bike)
sigil of corruption
axe of blind fury
gift of mutation,
melta bombs
ichor blood
combat familiar
World Eater legion rules

This build can throw out on the charge up to 13 (12 on the bike) attacks at S7 AP2 at initiative 5. The juggernaught lord has 4 wounds and a 3+/ 4++ save (bike get 4+jink). Champions of chaos will buff your character to better stats (maybe). I used the bike build and won at a similar event.

Alternatively, take
demon prince
mark of tzeentch
wings
mastery level 3
spell familiar
stormbolt plate
the black mace
gift of mutation
Nght Lords legion rules.

Enjoy a rerollable 2+ armor save, rerollable 2+ cover save, and 5++ (which you can improve to a 4++ with cursed earth if you roll on demonology). You'll also have a fleshbane ap2 mace that forces tougness test that removes the hit model from play if it fails (not instant death so still applicable)

Last I'm pretty sure there's an imperial knight character so that would be amusing.

If there's no ID, then Eldrad would be a beast, in my opinion.

Lol, as if you can take 5e characters. Urien Rakarth or Duke Sliscus would both be pretty sick choices.

Characters only, FW allowed, no 30k, but Magnus is allowed? And no points? The cheesiest you could go with that is probably Aetaos'rau'keres, it'd be really hard to argue he shouldn't be allowed if Magnus is (and the normal drawback (1/4 of your points restriction, so he isn't actually allowed unless it's a 4,000pt+ game normally) is negated by not using points).

Given that FMCs have a 12" minimum move distance you can totally fit a flying holding pattern into a 24" area, at which point Be'lakor or a Flyrant could be pretty busted options. Wander around in circles dumping fire onto a bunch of combat monsters that can't charge them.

And this just went from sounding like fun to sounding less enjoyable than genital mutilation. Magnus seems like a hands down winner, as he can just take to the air and fly around psychic shrieking or D-ing. Is there any reason whatsoever not to take Magnus?

If I knew I was facing Magnus and I couldn't bring Magnus, I would take Inquisitor Greyfax.

She will deny him on 3+, because she is a psyker, and she has other rules, one such is that she is always treated as a level higher than the Psyker info the purposes of manifesting spells.

Additionally she rolls powers from telepathy, which means you have a chance to land invisibility, but more importantly, you will get the Primaris, Psychic Shriek.

What we are going for, here, is a way to actually kill Magnus in one, or two, lucky goes.

He has a massive advantage because of flying but Psychic Shriek ignores this. He will have difficulty denying you, because of the higher psychic mastery level in your favor, and if you roll an 18, he's going to suffer 8 wounds, with a 4+ save. You probably won't get him in 1 go, but you at least have a chance.

His best bet against you would be to land, and try and charge you, since that is an auto-win for him, and you can't really hurt him with your attacks. You'll have maybe 2 turns to make something happen. You do have BS10 when shooting at Psykers due to Psyocculum, so you will be able to force him to take perils, and there is a very small chance (1/72) that he's dragged to the warp. Also, you can still Psychic Shriek him.

It's not perfect but it has a chance. I don't think any other character has even remotely a chance to beat him, because of his flight.

The problem here is that many other named ICs would make short work of you, in both ranged and melee.

I'd just pick my favorite character and take him. Those restrictions remove all balance, so it'd be for fun or not at all.

What a terribly imbalanced idea for a game. I would take Kaptin Badrukk in order to be the only contender who kills themselves in the shooting phase. If you can't beat 'em, surprise 'em!

Magnus is allowed.

Ok well nothing matters at that point only people who field Magnus are going to be the winners

To many unpainted models to count.

Mephiston.

He might not be the best but he looks fun. Possibility for S10, is T5 and 3W.

He can actually hit on 2+ at S10 against everything if he's lucky.

Magnus lacks one thing though.

Now sure he has mega powers but... No warp charge battery.
His ability to use most powerful abilities is weaker.
He cannot buff himself like normal as no allies.

The psi powerhouse lacks the fuel to exploit.

LoC, ML3 divination, or risk it with the new Tzeentch table for that D shot, but divination can give you the +4 invul with a greater reward to become S8 base.

Otherwise, TWC wolf lord with TH/SS is a decent powerhouse that slaps around a lot of named characters pretty easily.

I have decided to Take Ahriman on a Disk Rolling on Telepathy for Triple Cast Psychic Shriek (and as it has no roll to hit, COULD counter someone Bringing Magnus/a Flyrant)

Hes gonna be part of a Thousand Sons army for the +1 invun if he casts a blessing

For one thing - can you give ahirman a disk? I thought his base statline was on foot. I'm honestly not 100% on this.

Second, things that don't roll to hit cannot be fired at swooping FMCs - the only exception is nova witchfires. So, no psychic shriek would have no effect on a swooping magnus.

And, again, I think ahriman's base invlun is 4+, and with the 1k sons trait about blessings, that's still just a 3++. You need a grimoire of true names and a demon, or something else that boosts invluns to get down to a 2++ (and 1+ invlun isn't a thing).

But overall, yeah, if you remove instant death from the game and allow monstrous creatures with no points restriction, it's going to just be magnus steamrolling everything else that's not also a magnus.

My local club tried something like this, and it was actually pretty fun, but it was with infantry models only, and a points limit of ~200 points or so. And there were little buff tokens littered around that restored wounds, gave bonus attacks, WS, FNP, etc, and when you killed someone you got their tokens. It was a fun idea.
