Skyrim has finally moved to the back burner. Still playing it, but not as regularly.

Mount and Blade: Warbands is in my rotation right now, though I wish that there was a bit more to the combat. Still, my life as a mercenary of Rhodok during their war against the Sarranid Sultanate has been fun.

Tried Valkyria Chronicles, but I can't dumb myself down enough at the moment to tolerate the game's characterizations. Too many JRPG cliches were thrown at me at once within the first hour. I'll come back to it when my story expectations are lower, since the game itself seems interesting. I got Saints Row 3, but for some reason I have no interest at all in playing it. Ditto for Dead Island, though that could be because I started as the least likable player character that I've ever seen in a game (Purna, for those keeping score).

So now I'm playing Mass Effect on my Xbox 360. I got the game for Christmas a few years ago but I never really got along well with it (in retrospect, I don't think I really gave it the amount of attention that it requires), so now I'm trying it out again. I did the same thing with Dragon Age Origins, which I hated on my first attempt then fell in love with on my second, so here's hoping for a repeat of those results.

Despite so long of playing Mount and Blade, I still get annoyed with it. Why do all the kings hate me? Lose prime men storming castle, 'sorry Mr.Herpderp, I have to give it to this useless bugger who can't even seem to hold a castle, without retreating back into his own land and leaving a garrison of 12 men there'

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning demo. Never heard of this game but it's pretty good. Also gives you Mass Effect 3 armor for no reason for trying it so check it out.

Been playing a lot of Saints Row 2 lately, ever since I poured nearly 70 hours into Saints Row: The Third.

Honestly, the game has made me really glad that Saints Row: The Third went more towards the campy side of things than its predecessor. Saints Row 2 is dark at times.

I got an email from them about a demo but I junk'd it as I've never heard of the game and I thought it would be crappy freeware.

Was that a bad idea?

The Kingdoms of Amalur demo was surprisingly good. It feels more game-like than a Skyrim (which at least has a small nod to realism), but the graphics are attractive, the mechanics seem solid and the world scratches my World of Warcraft itch. If I wasn't working on buying a new Necron army, I'd snatch it up when it releases.

Nope, just get on the old XBLA and download the demo. When you boot it up you get free stuff and the game's pretty good.

They stole as much as they possibly could from Skyrim and Dragon Age which isn't a bad thing.

The demo on the 360 and PS3 has some freezing issues that the developers have apologized for and swear that the demo is running on an outdated (debugged) version of the final engine. It is a fun game with lots of little hidden areas and things to do (for a demo), but just be aware of that.

I don't know about the PS3 version but I know on the 360 version you have to use up all 45 minutes of the free play time once you get to the starting town to unlock the Mass Effect exclusives so some people are getting there and just letting the clock run down so they don't tempt fate.

As for what I am playing at the moment, I got a dirt cheap copy of Final Fantasy XIV of ebay and have been messing around with it. I was in the beta and it was terrible, and since firing the team responsible and bringing a whole new group on and spending the last year revamping the game I have to say they have done a decent job of it. If this had been the game at launch it would have done much better. The in-game* cutscenes are very nice and put SWTOR's to shame, as far as the cinematic nature of them is concerned. Of course FFXI's cs's, especially the later expansions, were were well staged and engaging as well.

The character models and armor have a real feeling of dimension and weight. Different types of cloth and leather have a sense of thickness and pattern, heavy armors look like they are resting on the model. It is actually a very low key aesthetic that works very well for the game. The classes are interesting as is the ability to choose abilities from other jobs to create a hodgepodge of skills to play how you like to some degree, and the crafting, which is a big part of the game isn't to bad, though like anything if you level it solely through grinding can get a little dull. I like that you don't have to buy spells but that they grow with the mage. For example a Conjurer gets Stone at level 1. Instead of having to later get Stone II, Stone III, ect the power of the spell just grows with the player, as does it's mp cost. You don't spend time and money upgrading spells or having to camp scrolls. The main problem I have had so far is that the community, not surprisingly, is quite small. OTOH it is a tight nit group that is generally very helpful.

I'll probably keep messing around with it becuase I would like to see the cs's and story before they release Final Fantasy XIV 2.0 later this year in which the game story will be completely changed. There will be events that the players will be involved with that herald the coming 'destruction' of the world which could be interesting. Some items will only be available pre-2.0, like a gobbue mount that 'legacy' players will get to carry over. I don't know if the new classes (Paladin, Monk, ect) will be implemented before or after 2.0, but everyone is looking forward to that.

There is still a good amount of work to do before 2.0 as there is still a bit of UI lag, and a glitch here and there, but overall it is very playable, and if one is so inclined can be fun.

It is also full of puns and word play. On of the the Blacksmith quests that has you making saws or axe heads was called "Get to the Chopper", and the new Ifrit fight is called "Ifrit bleeds, we Can Kill It".

I did as well, but everything I read said you also get something for doing the whole 45 minutes. Must look into it more.

How to get items.

Apparently when the ME3 demo comes out it will have unlocks for KoA:R as well, including Shepard's armor.

I probably should have put the FFXIV spiel in a separate thread as it seems a bit to long for this one.

Well Amalur is on PC too, get the demo from Steam or something. It controls quite well on a computer and seems like a fun game.

I've been playing Anno 2070.

It's my first foray into an Anno game, but I was enticed hearing people on guild chat discuss it whilst playing a co-op continuous game.

Tried my first game with 3 of them, and it was a blast. Two of them made high tech, compact cities full of executives, one sorta did that but got the balance wrong and so bled money, and then there was my city.

A massive, sprawling slums filled with basic workers being taxed to the maximum, and producing massive amounts of early game goods to sell in huge trades. It also became the center production for our war fleet when we were invaded by some Keto woman. I managed to amuse my co-op players by the method in which I prevented the spread of crime, bulldozing all the houses around those affected, and replacing them with police stations.

The games that are currently occupying most of my time (in order):

Soul Calibur V: If you're a fan of the series, I highly recommend picking it up. While there's a sadly small amount of things to do by yourself, it's an incredibly fun game.

World of Warcraft: Got back into it a few months ago, started tanking on my Paladin again. Bad idea. Lots of time, gone.

Assassin's Creed II: Yeah, I'm just playing it now. Enjoying the heck out of it.

I haven't played any of them in a while now, but Skyrim, Saints Row: The Third, the Kingdoms of Amalur demo (saw some people talking about it), and Space Marine are all on my "recently played and greatly enjoyed" list.

Kingdom Death Fanatic. Dark Eldar: Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Dark Elves: Allegiance to the Black Crown. Also, Masons, Cygnar, and Legion of Everblight. All unnamed.

I played some Starcraft 2 recently. It's fairly decent, actually. Muted the sound and cranked some KMFDM and wow, that was an experience. I still find dawn of war soul storm and dawn of war 2 retribution to be quite enjoyable. Looking forward to Dow 3.

Gonna sink into some more skyrim soon, and that will eliminate quite a bit of time I reckon.

After a speed bump with the WoW guild last week, nothing serious just some minor drama and a guild quit by one of our officers, I'm back playing again.

Been partially/barely active for a while, so thought as an Officer it was time to show my face. Started trying to collect up the remaining three archeology pets, got two so far, just need the blasted claw from Uldum.

Sitting on 166 pets atm, puts me fourth on my server according to Warcraft pets. Only three behind the leader.

Other than WoW, I'm also playing Saints 3 still, a bit of Sims 3 and Skyrim.
