Only the major expansion monsters have come with armor sets so far, which are the Gorm and the Dragon King. The Minor Monster expansions have not. So, unless this is a Major Expansion monster, I don't see it coming with an Armor Kit. Maybe, we'll be lucky though, and this monster gets added to the base game!

Flower Knight came with a sword, Lion Knight with claws, but not full armor kits. So it should have Something, but probably not full kits. We'll see

True, but the minor expansions were never actually described as 'monsters,' just expansions. I'm pretty sure this will be a big one, especially since Adam actually called it a monster. I'll stand to be corrected but I'm hoping not, since Chitin armour would be cool,or any new armour. I'm also impatient to see a new pinup.

The Lion Knight could also be seen as being able to 'use' the Lion Armor.

There's nothing close to Bug/Chitin armor in the game now - so even if it isn't revealed at $650K, it is too good of an opportunity to pass up in terms of modeling and money.

Quick - to the Adam Wishlist Machine!

A bug/chitin armour and belonging pin-up would be quite awesome. Imagine what Thomas David could do with such a subject!

I'll second that.

The silhouette reminds me of the Warcraft Crypt Lords. It's not hard to imagine it being used in a Thousand Sons army and, regardless of what it's purposed for, should be fun to paint. Looking forward to this one.

The front of that thing... it's like, I want to see it, but at the same time, I don't want to see it. The creepiest part is the dangling thing off its head, sort of like those glowing lures deep sea fish have.

Slightly off topic, but still Kingdom Death:

My Survivor Pinup and Twilight Night just arrived in the mail, and they are absolutely beautiful. I've always loved KD's models, but the Twilight Night is really one of their finest. It's very simple and subdued, but beautiful in every aspect. He looks fantastic next to my Pinup Twilight Knight.

...Now to just get them painted...

Also, I love the new bases, huge improvement over the old ones. The simple fact that they are semi-removable means you can easily adapt the model for a display piece, while still retaining gameplay capability without compromise. And for the record, Poots, if you're reading this, I absolutely love the branding you have on the bottom of them

And it seems like the Forsaker I ordered from CMON likely got lost in the mail, but the quality of the TK helps make it better.

The Twilight Knight and the Forsaker are the models I crave, too. I will probably wait for his "next" game... sometime in the future! When he has more of a focus on heroes and thus includes them.

Sorry, this is a little off topic, but...
Is it just me, or does that look a lot like a Tyrant Guard?

Back on topic, I'm really looking forward to what the next stretch goal is, so far I have pledged for all the monsters, and I doubt I will stop now (poor poor wallet.)

That paint job is amazing, it really makes me wish I could paint. I'm betting even if the paint guides with the Kingsmen and the Flower Knight are extremely easy to understand, I'll still manage to butcher the paint jobs.

Kingdom Death Fanatic. Dark Eldar: Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Dark Elves: Allegiance to the Black Crown. Also, Masons, Cygnar, and Legion of Everblight. All unnamed.

Holy gak that is an awesome username. Please tell me your army is called Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Morathi's Darkest Sin has some competition here for best handle, I think.

So my wife officially gave me the sign off on the Pin Up models last night. She actually likes them!

This came after a discussion about Privateer Press' Epic Eiryss model, who has really big breasts but is really thin everywhere else. She told me it was for the same reason that she didn't really like the Relic Knights models (all boob, no butt).

She really liked the KD Pin Ups because, despite having large breasts, their hips and butt are correctly proportioned to match. I would have never guessed in a million years that she'd like them, but she does!

Woot.

Very nice paintjob indeed. The guide is already up on BOLS, but it will still be a solid addition to the rulebook IMO.

Are you allowed to use those words in a sentence like that? I'm still not sure that's correct. Can we get an English major to verify this?

It's a well painted model. Of particular interest was the way he did the halberd's blade and the decision to go with a gold(en) gradient instead of the usual gunmetal or silver. Glad to see it included in the book.

Dayum! That's very provocative, and I can only imagine the kind of increase over time Adam will get from that kind of exposure.

By the way, is this the first explicit acknowledgment that there is some entanglement with C'MoN* on the back end?

Wired wrote:Kingdom Death Board Game Revives Fantasy D&D Design

By Joseph Flaherty

A key to raising outsized sums on Kickstarter is having a long line of "Stretch Goals" planned out that keep fans checking out the project and recruiting new backers into the fold. In the case of Kingdom Death, this means new adversaries, like this fearsome knight based on a dung beetle.

Kingdom Death: Monster is a cooperative board game that is equal parts Milton-Bradley and Megadeth album art. In it players team up in an RPG-like setting, playing amnesiac characters trying to survive in a nightmarishly baroque setting. This horror-themed game might seem like a strange fit for the holiday season, but it is killing it on Kickstarter, having has raised over $600,000 with three weeks remaining.

Just as fair warning, Kingdom Death pays homage to over-the-top fantasy art of yore and is definitely for mature audiences.

Kingdom Death’s creator, Adam Poots, might seem like Santa’s most demonic elf, but he started his career as a Brooklyn-based creative director. By day he worked on branding campaigns and websites for Groupon clones, but in his off hours he was an avid gamer. One day in 2008, bored while waiting to be summoned during a stint of jury duty, he read a rulebook for a role playing game and started to imagine ways it could be improved.

Ideas for a game of his own didn’t come about immediately — he didn’t yet have a fully fleshed out concept, but had thoughts about characters and settings. He also knew he wanted his game to have awesome miniature figures as game pieces, so he started designing those pieces. He says “The chance of me ever saving up for a house in New York was ludicrous, so I started with $10,000 in savings and decided to put it into little figures.” The only problem was that while he had a vision for the game world, he didn’t have the skills in illustration or sculpting to realize it — so he hired some help.

“Every miniature is developed by a very important three person team,” Poots says. “I create the concept for a character, then I’ll find an artist, or multiple graphic artists, and we’ll get the concept done and ready to be sculpted.”

Finding sculptors was the biggest challenge. The best artists in the industry didn’t want to work with an unknown, but through sheer determination, he recruited a sculptor by suggesting they try a novel process in the field, 3-D printing. “There was a question whether the fine detail sculptors expected could be achieved by 3-D printers at this small scale,” he says. “We talked to a lot of 3-D printing companies and found a machine called ‘The Viper‘ that could handle the job. In this niche community, I’m 99% sure I’m the first to release a digitally printed mini.” Poots says the majority of his designs are still hand sculpted because most of the digital artists have video game jobs that keep them busy, but things are trending toward digital production.

This technical triumph gave Poots a reputation, the flood gates of sculptors opened, and he now has a couple dozen figurines under his banner. In 2010 he went full time, and found a European production house to cast limited runs of his figures in resin. “My production partner is in France and we communicate with them via Google Translate. From what I understand he is a strange master of his craft type and he does everything in this small village,” he explains. As his product line grew, money followed and he says ”I make way more selling little plastic figures than I did designing websites.”

His business grew steadily for two years and won some industry awards along the way. (Yes, there is an Academy Award equivalent for tiny statues). But Poots still wanted to release a full game. His vision for gameplay evolved as his line of figures grew. “I wanted the game itself to be something you play without a dungeon master, I wanted the game system itself to play the dungeon master role,” he says. “I also wanted the game world to be based around something harsh and let players experience themselves through the miniatures.”

He goes on to describe his design process as an evolution of his prior job. “Game design is very similar to designing a website or app, the flow of a site needs to make sense logically and mechanically, so does a game. I always ask, ‘what’s going to be the experience the first time a person opens the box, what about when they come back the next time, or play regularly?’”

Poots took his project to Kickstarter to raise funds for production and to turn his limited edition resin miniatures into mass produceable, injection molded, game pieces. Even though game companies have enjoyed success on Kickstarter he’s still a bit surprised that they’re so well received on the crowdfunding site. “Most of the successful products on Kickstarter are technology or cool gadgets, my products are old as time itself.”

Even after seeing a solid six-figure haul on the horizon, Poots is still proudly independent, avoiding partners and investors. He says “I’m a one man band, though my girlfriend has been super duper supportive and has spent many of her nights packing stuff with me.” He’s also working with a publisher called “Cool Mini Or Not”, that has also had its fair share of Kickstarter success, to provide fulfillment services.

According to Kicktraq, the Kingdom Death project is now averaging $28,000 a day in pledges. Poots says “It’s making a little over a thousand an hour — I’ll go to bed for eight hours and wake up to ten thousand more dollars.” So now a good night’s sleep is yielding as much as his original investment. He’s unsure what the future of the game will be after the campaign ends, but he is leaning against traditional distribution and would prefer to disrupt the market and serve fans directly. Kingdom Death was designed to scare players, but with this massive success, it might be the traditional game companies that should be fearful.

Also, apparently you can get the Illuminated Lady in resin! (For $25, I believe that was the normal price before) For those that were really wanting that model (she's on the list).
