i made this from the old mines of moria LOTR game starter set.
A last minute addition that is almost my favourite part of this is the streaking effect down the rocks. very subtle and improves the look greatly imo!
for those who are interested, its just seraphim sepia streaked downwards.
the tree is just a wire armature with airdrying clay over it, and clump foliage for the leaves.
Does anyone else think that the base is meh? i can't put my finger on it but it just seems a bit of a let down to the rest of the piece which i really like.

The overall piece is awesome. I didn't even notice the base itself until you drew my attention to it. I was too busy looking at the ruins and the tree. The stones have lots of different sizes giving a lot of variety to look at. For the rest You have some grass/moss on the base, but not much else. So it goes from a tall tree to flat grass with no in between. Maybe some longer grasses/weeds? Something knee high to a model. Not a lot but some here and there growing up around the broken stones. It won't detract from the great stone work, or the tree, but give it more variety, the same way you did with the smaller broken stones.

You did a great job on the painting of the columns and the tree and foliage growing.
For the base though, in my opinion, would look better if you beveled the edges and rounded out it a bit more. The square-ness does not look natural i think.

Buildings looks good. I've always like the terrain from that set. The sepia streaks give a nice weathered effect without being over the top. I'm doing something similar on vehicles, using enamels, when they arrive for my current projects.
