So if you haven't seen the AoS Kharadron Overlords (Stunty Steampunk Sky Squats) go check this out: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/5940/690078.page -

Now that you've seen that, what codex would you use to proxy these guys into 40k? It could get confusing at a tournament, sure, but playing friendly games it wouldn't be too bad.

Would using Marines work best? They have the StormTalon and other flying vehicles and a flying transport which could represent these reasonably well, the heavy armor, middle-distance range weapons, jump troops...

Thoughts?

If you were desperate to use those minis in 40k instead of just using them to play dwarves in AoS, then Tau would probably be your best bet. Jump troops are vespid, the preponderance of guns lets you counts as a variety of breachers/rifle/carbine/pathfinders while the dirigible things could do OK jobs as jumpy crisis suits.

I still say it's a crap idea (just like squats were/are) and would get incredibly confusing to the point where I doubt I'd give you a game.

They are way to big to be used as Crisis Troops, honestly I was thinking of Space Marines and the Blimps as Stormravens or Storm Talons seem like a better idea. Assault Marines and Space Marines/Scouts ect.

19th Krieg Siege Army 7500pts.
40k/HH Night Lords 5000pts.
Orks Waaaghmacht Spearhead 2500pts.

why not play them as Imperium militia with the abhuman helots and survivors of the dark age provenances. That's what i am hoping to do.

Killjoy

Counts-as armies are the backbone of 40k conversion, and most people are happy to play against them. If there's an issue with recognition, then an easy to make laminated card explaining what each unit is is more than sufficiently helpful
