Has anyone tried using a helmet instead of the bare head for Grand Master Voldus? It seems like it should work, but I am worried the arch that goes over his head might get in the way. I am planning on just using one of the heads from the Paladin kit for him.

I haven't seen him in person, but the Paladin helmets are designed to go under the psychic hoods so you shouldn't have too much trouble.

Yeah, but the arch going overtop and the bits sticking up in the collar have me concerned. I will just have to give it a shot once he finally comes.

Its a bit of a tight fit, but you can get a GK terminator helmet in there. Trimming the neck on the helmet can help.

If I were to use one of the helms where the chin angles backward, would that work a little better?

I did it myself. I used one of the thousand extra grey knight heads I had. It worked very well. All you need to do is flatter the rounded bit at the bottom of the helmet and it'll go in perfect.

Awesome. I suppose that is what Grey Templar was getting at with trimming the neck.
I am glad I am not the only one that doesn't like Please Shoot Me In The Face Helmetless Marines.

The main issue is getting the upper area of the helmet to fit. It has top level clearance issues. Cutting down the bottom part makes it sit lower.

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks again for the tip.

For the helmet! Place a magnet in torso slot, and one at the base of Voldus' head and at the base of a spare GKT helm. You can then swap as desired and not have to worry about proper fit as the magnets will lock tight.

That would let you move his helmet around which would be cool.

That is true, and like GT says, it would allow me to turn his head. I will weigh my options. He isn't even here yet since FLG got too many orders.

I bought some custom heads. When my Voldus is complete, I will share pictures in the modeling section.
Basically he has a long beard and some hair.

The more I look at this guy, the more I think he would be a great base for a Kaldor Draigo conversion. Maybe I will need to snag a second one off of eBay to turn into Draigo. Thoughts?

Voldus looks almost exactly like my Mordrak conversion from a GKT kit, the only reason for me to buy him is to get Guilliman.

Pretty much the same here. I wanted Big Blue and I ended up with a box of GK Terminators and a Dreadknight because I have no self control.
As soon as the weather warms up here, I am going to get out and spray paint all my GK stuff (and a bunch of Imperial Fists boarding shields since they will be using the same color). I picked up a can of Army Painter Gun Metal for this purpose. I went with their Gun Metal over their Plate Mail because I wanted a little darker of a color. I am actually looking at possibly using it to basecoat stuff like Quad Mortars for my Crimson Fists as well.
