Hello all, I am working on a modular tile system (tiles roughly 11.5x11.5") wherein 3 tiles need to be water terrain without land features of any kind. The scale is 1/28.

I have been looking at some styrene water sheets (plastruct and tamaiya) but neither appears to make a sheet that is large enough to cover one tile. I have never worked with these types of terrain features, but if there is a way to hide the seams, I haven't found it.

I am hoping to achieve something similar to this masterpiece - http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Yc-Hnfh96gM/U5cIRj_mlDI/AAAAAAAABjw/KCWyL1IbGDY/s1600/blog-sfondo-endar-06-011.jpg

Please let me know if you have any suggestions for different products or approaches for this issue.

Many thanks!

have you thought about using resin?

instead of an actual sheet, you get two part resin (I do not recommend something like woodland scenics for large areas, it's better for bases and small uses imo), mix it, add your tint (washes work, like GW, Liquitex tints, inks etc) and pour onto your surface.

Be very very sure to cover places your working on, as well as make a waterproof framework to keep the resin in, so it doesn't leak out. Some leaks seem inevitable tbh, but overall you don't want all of it to leak out or you end up starting over! I ended up using hotglue and some boards, when I did my swamp board, a LOT of hotglue.... it's good because it comes off easily and applies easily. As well as being able to contain leaks well. I threw a cheap plastic table cloth cover down for the inevitable leaks/miss and it worked very well.

Alternatively, you could get something like those clear rug mats maybe, or even glass, paint the board like water, put the glass/plastic cover on top.

You might even just print a picture, or get a print of water, and do similiar.

Anyway, just some thoughts! Good luck!

Depends what sort of effect you want, have done water before using cheap filler for a rippled surface effect, then painted a suitable blue or green/grey colour and dry brushed for effect.

Alternative could be some acrylic sheet similar to that used in bathroom windows with the slightly distorted surface sprayed a suitable blue on the underside?

Expensive but you can always go with the woodland scenics water products. They also have tutorials on youtube to help you with any ideas that you may want to implement

Noch does sheets of "Lake film" water effect (clear blue plastic textured sheet ) that is 410mmx260mm (16"x10" or so).

I've seen a 1mx1m sheet also (rolled up like a grass mat).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

There is non that has gone into more detail on water effects than Terranscapes on youtube. Throughout his videos that include water he's used almost all water effect projects. The Ocean board playlist is the best
