I have like 6 squads of havocs each with 4 autocannons total of 24.

The iron warrior army grants them tank hunter.

Tank hunter used to give +1 str to their weapons.

Now it just allows a re roll of failed to penetrate rolls.

Str8 ac was vital to pen av13. At least had a small chance to glance av14.

Now it just give a better chance to penetrate if the weapon str already pens that armor value.

Is running 24 ac still worth running?

Given how infrequently you see AV 13 and AV 14 these days, the answer is yes. You'll be able to destroy marine battle companies and put enough S7 shooting out to concern MCs/FMCs.

+1 Strength to weapons is strictly inferior to everything besides AV14. And you won't see AV14 anytime soon so long as the current users of it are garbage.

Given that glacing a vehicle to death with high RoF weapons is generally better and easier than penning it, then yes, Tank hunter is better than +1 str as it's also more reliable and more importantly, with 4x autocannons, you're likely to drop an AV12 target in 1 round while if you were str8, you'd leave it standing more often than not (~3 hp with tank hunter vs ~2.5 with +1 str) while the difference against AV13 is minimal as it's going to take 2 rounds of fire (or 2 units) the vast majority of the time (~1.6 with tank hunter vs ~1.7 with +1 str).

For actual % improvements:
AV10 - +6.67%
AV11 - +12.5%
AV12 - +11.11%
AV13 - -8.33%
AV14 - N/A
