A friend and I are doing the Realmgate Wars : Consumed scenerio out of the GHB. So I had to contend with an armor turtle last week which consisted of 2 units of Retributors side by side up front, a unit of Protectors with stormglaves behind them, 2 units of Judicars behind them, then his Celestant on Dracoth covering flank and his Castellant and Relictor. Also has whatever single flying char is with a bird that can both attack 30". Smart layout on his part and very effective. Guaranteed next game I'll be facing it again. He was able to stop us and attain the "artifact" (consisting of a plastic Orc head). We must take it back!

I know he's gonna be huddled up all around the ritual site with a similar turtle. What's the best way to deal with SC bubbles like that? Combined ranged (ie Warpfire Cannons and Tzaangor Skyfires with a front line of Chaos Wars with shields and a couple Wrathmongers/Stormvermin (2" range over Chaos Warr front line) to break their lines or at least get them to split enough to get up and in there? I'd run Stormvermin with Projectors up with the shield wall but his ranged will pick them off at distance. Maybe a Bloodthirster kept in back till things are loosened up and then run in and kill off the priest and general if ranged hasn't already? Maybe a Verminlord Deceiver and use Skitterleap to get right in on the priests? Maybe just stand off and arty and range the hell out of them till they have to come and do something? Technically the altar area is elevated so anyone at the altar will be within LOS once my ranged is within range. So I could just flood with range and attempt to snipe his priest and general (the only 2 who can "complete" the steps of the ritual). Take them out and game over.

Thoughts on any tactics or possible Chaos list to deal with that? Thanks in advance!

Run three slaughterpriests, they have an ability that forces an enemy unit to run towards you. That way you can pull out single units and gank them, forcing him to either break the formation to engage you or get picked off one by one. Why three slaughterpriests? So you still have one when the first two get shot to death.

Nice trick. Like pulling mobs in a dungeon. Yeah I am sure after the first time I do that he will focus fire the rest with his ranged. Might be enough of a distraction though to throw him off and be able to get in close enough to take out the guys that really matter.

Can all three slaughterpriest force the same unit to run 3 times in the same turn?

Very good question! I don't see anything listed in the talent as "chosen unit can only be affected once per turn" type deal. Would it fall under the "rules of one" as far as "Each spell can only be attempted once per turn...". The ability is a "prayer" not a "spell"... so not sure if the same rule applies.

Man that would be funny making one unit at a time run 12-18" inches towards you pending how many priests someone brought. Run them into a pocket of murder one by one. Well, at least the first unit or two till the opponent moved his forces out of range.

I think with ~d6+4" two uses would almost guarantee to put them at the 3" margin, considering the range is 16". But that's assuming the Slaughterpriests are all standing in the same spot...
