Bit late and not sure can much be done at this point but any suggestions making walking about 30km a day contonuously with about 10kg backbag more bearable? So far been able to do it but would be nice to feel each night like no way i can walk tomorrow So far about 424km in 15 days done with about 26-32km planned for next 9 days.

Fun but sure is rough. At least rain thats been tormentting me should end tomorrow.

Properly fitted athletic shoes would be the first thing I'd look at. If you're going to be doing these sort of miles, it's worth the investment.

There are a couple of shops where I live where you can go in and they size your feet correctly, put you on a treadmill, analyses your gait and hooks you up for the right shoes for you.

Make sure your rucksack is adjusted correctly too. It shouldn't sit too low on your back, and the waist strap should be resting on your hips. Your hips should be carrying the load as much as your shoulders should be. Try balance your pack well too.

Consider walking poles or sticks. Even if the ground isn't rough, they can still help you along and reduce finger swelling too.

Oh, and fuel correctly too. You need carbs.

And drink lots of water. Always drink water.

Stretch, eat and drink water afterwards. It aids recovery.

Crucial.

Haha doubtful Kukai had uber available 1200 years ago

Thanks for the first replier for tips. Alas custom shoes while would be nice are not viable now. They arent made in few hours and im now in far off place of far off island of japan could be tricky to find on my quite preset route. I have heard this area compared to siberia except for the weather

Walking stick i do have though just one. Its the traditional one that symbolizes the kukai so im kinda stuck with it. Of course could get myself another one. But as it is its bloody useful except for btidges where tradition forbids usage
