I currently have only 20 boyz and I'm going to firestorm games soon with £30 to spend, I'm thinking of buying the ork raiders box as i need a HQ but i wanted to ask dakka before I go.

Oh my... I hadn't really looked at those kits until now. I'm surprised by the age of some of the sculpts used (that old Ork warbike, wow).

Anyway, the Raiders box really is actually a pretty good deal - the next step up would have been Warboss Grukk's Boss-Mob (shown below) which is a Warboss and the more modern Nobz kit (more weapons and bitz than the mono-pose 5 from the Raiders box), however even that is a few more quid than the Raiders box, and doesn't come with the paints or Deffcopter etc!
Deffcopters are useful to have and it can be hard to get hold of the plastic ones (which look way better than the metal IMO) as they have only been released in the Assault on Black Reach starter set and now this new easy-build set of kits.
The downside will be that the Nobz probably won't see alot of action once your collection expands, but as long as you're ok with that then go for it.

I'm only hoping that the paint pots shown aren't the correct ones, as there's no green paint in any of the Ork box photos!

Looking at this page it appears the sprues are pre base colored. In this case the orks are already green

That being said I'm now looking at the build and paint in a new light. I may pick up one. Although I feel like the vedros box was a greater deal. Wish I would have bought more than one.

Gruk is most definitely regular grey plastic I've just bought him my self for my first unit after coming back from 5th ed, and I can also confirm there's definitely green paint used in the pictures but none of the greens that are listed on the box that's just GW trying to sell you more paint, here's a picture of mine.

I feel like if you could scrape up a little more money the start collecting box would be a good choice too.

I wasn't referring to grukk. I was referring to the build and paint set being green plastic. Sorry for any confusion
