Hello all.

Years and years ago, I dabbled in this thing we called narrative campaigning with Necromunda. I still have fond memories of summer campaigns, pitting small warbands of Inquisitors, Rogue Traders, Mercenaries and Aliens against each other.

Inspired by the newly arrived Shadow War: Armageddon, my gaming group is planning a narrative spring/summer campaign once more. We'll be gaming on a combination of the new Mechanicus terrain, Forgeworld terrain boards and loads of other stuff.

The warband of each player will be divided into two parts. A "Killteam", composed of an elite band of killers, will take care of the hardest fought engagements. These teams will have lots of conversions, weird combinations of wargear and races, generally it'll be a free for all playground of the imagination.
Meanwhile, the "Goonsquad" will be composed of regular mooks of the players chosen race or faction. They will be the ones on garisson duty, guarding prisoners and facilities, and generally be nameless henchmen.

For my Killteam, I've chosen to base them on the Chaos Warband rules. So I'll have some power armored maniacs, backed up by human henchmen. Theme wise, I'm going with the Carcharodons Astra, so old, beaten up wargear and crazed madmen will be the order of the day.

And with the words out of the way, here's some pictures to get us started properly.

Here is the beginning conversion work on the Killteam leader. The original miniature is the Terminator Captain from Betrayal at Calth, but with some torso extension work, a sculpted rear torso and a new helmet, he'll make a nice Mk.III Marine. I'm still not sure about the weapons, he may get a Volkite pistol and a Chainsword eventually.

This is what may end up being the look for my goons. A Long rifle armed human, with respirator mask and a cheap bionic arm.

More to come, I've started painting the warband leader but he still has quite a way to go...

It feels good to be back though, any feedback is appreciated.

That space marine is absolutely gorgeous, can we have a view of his back to see how youve changed it?

Here are some painting in progress pics for you. This is quite a different approach to the build and paint process, since I will be painting quite a lot of the miniature before I do the final sculpting work.
As I mentioned, he will probably be getting a different firearm...

These are the best images I could get tonight, I'm travelling at the moment, so I don't have access to my usual photo setup at the moment... :-p

Cool. Are you magnetizing his helmet and arms?

The left arm will be magnetized, yes. The head is loose at the moment because I needed access to the details around his neck. Once I'm done with that, it'll be glued on.
