Just saw this pop up today.

Thoughts, do you like it or not?

Personally I am not a big fan of steam punk and the Overlords have some elements that show where the creators took some ideas from the genre. That being said, I do like their new body armor and their new lore sounds interesting.

orkz are da best!!!

I like them more than any other Warhammer dwarves of the past. Which were always more or less more like extra high fantasy versions of tolkien dwarves (dwarfs?).

They are a lot more interesting than Khorne and Stormcasts, that alone makes them a big step up for me.

I'd like if they were a bit less high tech, particularly in the city designs, but I like them overall as long as they remain the highest-tech end of the spectrum.

I like how they are like mercantile mercenaries. Since they fight with their allies and alone for their trade agreement partners.

Edit
He teased bigger ships! Oh my lordie. He says these three ships are the primary ships you'll see, but they do have bigger ones. I take it GW knows they will be mega popular.

Battleships are a thing in the Kharadron fleets, plus other vessels still larger than the ironclads.

The fluff says they are extremely expensive however, and not risked in open battle. It seemed to be worded as a "these exist in the fluff but not on the tabletop" sort of thing. Though maybe FW will come up with something one day.

Oh I think we'll see bigger ships eventually. GW and FW are famous for it.

If we want to get down to it, their cities are 'bigger' ships.

There is this though.

Sounds like something that's begging for a FW release!

Oh yeah battleship class. They also mention carrier sub-type of battleship.

I hope we see a full fleet range before we get to battleship.

Right now we are missing a one man craft smaller than the two man. I would also like to see a dual kit ship-of-the-line kit that can make a man'o'war or support ship/transport. Then cruiser classes and finally at the top end battleship classes.

Also it would be cool to see their range of aerial craft expand. Perhaps we'll see more advanced gyro copters? Instead of an iron golem they get a mech-copter. In one mode it's a gyro copter and in the other it can land and walk around using its blades as melee weaponry. Heck even whole new weapons of war powered by aether-gold.

Edit
Steam flamer style weapons that shoot boiling steam irradiated with aether gold poison.

The one man flyers are covered with their flying infantry that have personal buoyancy endrins, while propellers like those on gyrocopters are obselete to Kharadron Overlords. As for the flamer-style weapons they already have them, its a weapon option for the gunners and I think the Khemist has a weapon like that too.

Then cool. Also I want to see Nausica of the Valley of the Wind Elven (not dark elf) mixed with Fremen influence from dune sky corsairs. That's like saying since we have cars we have no need of bikes for single people. I think a single person craft would be a welcome addition and bring heavier weapons than a person could.

Truth be told I kinda just want to see what every faction would do if put in the sky. Haha.

I'd say the Endrinriggers are more Mortal Engines couch-airship than single person fighter-craft. Maybe we can have single-person interceptor airships as parasite fighters, attached to Ironclads or hypothetical large craft?

That Battleship art is amazing. It brings to mind 70s-style sci-fi book covers. GW, I love you for including art that isn't just pictures of models.

What do youse think a Shieldship would do?

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

Hmmm... well I could see it go two ways.

Shield ships are able to project a shield around the battlefield and reduce incoming damage. I imagine this is more of a mass effect field form ME universe as opposed to how shields work in 40k. It might simply reduce the velocity of incoming projectiles and thus reduce damage.

Or it could be seen as a super tanky ship that deploys stuff on the front lines of the battle and absorbs damage for its fleet by being on the frontline.

Speaking of Sheild ships, Gubhaulers can "Look out sir" bigger ships on a roll. Wounds ans Mortal Wounds i belive.

I think I'm in love with those models. Not sure if I'll collect them but for sure I'll steal some bits for my Skitarii units.

This is the first genuinely interesting AoS faction to come out. Maybe the Mortal Realms will be interesting to me in the future.

I look at these guys and think...now this is a good reason for an Epic-scale AoS.

Those are a nickname for Tzeentch Screamers. They are explicitly referred to as Daemons in the fluff text when they fight them

Best AoS release so far, IMO. I love the design of their airships especially.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

At my desk

I kinda liked AoS, but was mostly a 40k player. I'm now looking to sell my Sylvaneth to fund my army of these guys (already got the pre-order bundle, which has decimated my hobby budget). I'm a huge steam punk fan and was thinking about picking up some Ironweld Arsenal for conversions, but this...
This is just the best thing since sliced bread, in my own opinion.

I've seen the rules on the GW site and I like them a lot. I'm also personally very excited to see what FW does with them, considering they've not even released fully yet and are already shaping up to be one of the more popular factions in the Realms.

I can see why people don't like them, and that's fair enough - I'm no arbiter of truth for miniatures. But man I am excited.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!
