Hi Dakka,

i have a dilemma and i'm hoping someone smarter than me can help with.

Backstory.
Back in January i bought the Eldar Skyblade kit that comes with Dire Avengers and a Wave Serpent kit. I've only now got round to opening the box and building the models, unfortunately the kit was missing a cruicial piece, the axle that connects the 2 guns to each other and the turret. (pic below)

I contacted GW and informed them of the missing piece but despite providing them photographic evidence of the sprue missing the piece, i couldn't provide them with proof of purchase (i paid cash back in Jan and the reciept is long gone) and therefore they are unwilling to send out a replacement part.

This is where Dakka can help me out.

Does anyone have any ideas what i can do to salvage this model? i've looked at various bitz websites yet none have the part in stock.

any help would be welcome.

Kind Regards

Paull

I'd go magnets - probably want to magnetize it anyway. Failing that a small piece of matching brass rod w/ plasticard could do it.

I'd look at getting plastic rod from Plastruct and recreating it as best as possible.

I did a similar idea Elbows' second option with my Hornet assault walkers for my Eldar collection - the little S-Bend weapon mounts were so flimsy and fragile I got frustrated.

What I used was, IIRC 2mm or 3mm brass rod. I'm thinking it was 2mm, but with the design of the wave serpent you might want 3mm. If you drill the weapon mount holes out enough, you can slip them off and on without a problem, and just superglue the rod into the turret.

I'd hoped one of my hornets was in my tank bag, but no luck, they're two War walkers. You can find the size you need by checking the weapon mounts though, they're standardized.

It's a bit more shady but buy a second if you think you could use it and can afford it then use that receipt.

given the level of absolute scummery GW are displaying here, I would buy a second, use that receipt to get the replacement sent, then go return the second for a refund.

we ARE talking wave serpents. And, besides, it's still the hull for an Eldar tank - the Wave Serpent is just pieces applied over a Falcon hull - acquiring turrets for the Falcon or Fire Prism aren't hard with EBay..

Unless the OP already has a stock of the related hulls, it's not going to go to waste acquiring another one.

I can't believe they asked for a receipt. I've had to get parts from them before, for a kit that wasn't made anymore, and they never asked for a receipt or where I got it.

Must be a new policy for them, there Customer Service was awesome before, might have changed in the past two years since I've had to use them.

I would go magnets myself, otherwise some plastic rods or brass rods should do the trick for you.

You could also just glue the weapons to the turret, and they just wouldn't move up and down, not that big a deal if you aren't worried about it. Not like they have to be pointed right at the other model you are attacking,

Two options: magnets or plastic etc.
You should be able to find a plastic stick, skewer, toothpick, even without going to get plastic or brass rod stock from the model train store. Also consider superglue and wood or metal. You can use a nail ir a wooden toothpick for that piece.

You can get the brass off Ebay for dirt cheap as well.

Thanks all for the responses.

In the end i found a toothpick and trimmed it. Seems to have worked well enough
