One of my favourite SM chapters is the known as Mentors. I like the idea of a group of war "scientists" who learn things about the war and learn then to another chapters. But they haven't too much information, I think.
What do you think that could be his motive?
Personally, I like to think that they're like the Isaac Asimov's Foundation. A something's plan to recreate the culture and science in the IoM in a secret planet. They fight, see and learn, and hey're recreating a scientific culture in their homeworld.
Do you have some idea? Where I could read more of them? Thanks!

Codex: Space Marines (5th Edition), pg. 29
Deathwatch - Honour the Chapter (RPG), pg. 131
White Dwarf 98 (UK), "Index Astartes-The Mentor Legion" by Bryan Ansell, Alan Merrett and Paul Cockburn, pp. 39-44

Yeah, the best source is really the White Dwarf 98 article, the real "founding" of the Mentor Legion (not 'Mentors'). They were genuinely different and cool. Later they just became a vaguely Ultramarines-esque boring chapter, referred to as the Mentors w/ a lamer icon.

Go WD98 with them and you'll be set. Some special rules (bolter targeting webs for the win!). They're very much special forces Space Marines who train and work with other Imperial forces. Some of the coolest fluff. More hard sci-fi than the current craziness of 40K fluff though.

The Mentors articles are also in the Index Astartes : Apocrypha book that was released last year.

Physical copies might be hard to buy now, but it is still available on iBooks, and possibly other digital sources.
