so... going through the Kharadron Overlord's battletome there's constant mention of the Aether-khemist (the dwarf with the pipes for a beard) using sense of smell in order to locate Aether-gold, since according to lore, that's the only reliable way to find it. So that comes to question, What does it smell like? Is it sweet and aluring or foul and tangy? they never mention what the smell is like so I'm at a loss on how this process is supposed to work given how the Kharadron need this stuff.

Huh. well if there's really no description in the book you could probably just imagine it however you want?

I'm going with hot apple cider, with a bit of cinnamon.

There are sooo many ways this can be taken, just be glad there is no "silly rule" that would allow players to pass gas for advantage

Try to imagine a color* you have never seen before. That's what trying to figure out what Aether-Gold smells like is.

*Quick translation for Brits; this is American for 'colour'.

I'm gonna have to go with...it smells like money. Sweet uh..gassy currency~! I imagine it probably has a metallic smell to it. Maybe something like metallic sulfur since it's apparently a harsh and possibly corrosive substance on the body.

Maybe it smells like a mead? Rough on the senses but oh so sweet. Oooh what if it's different for each Khemist?

Given the fact that they are forced to wear full body suits at all times when not in a port city I'm going to guess that it smells like cancer...

Undoubtedly going to be answered one day in a novel so calling it now, sweet for it's gold quality but also acidic and leaves a taste in your mouth.

Ok so you know those fancy ships and weapons the Kharadron Overlords? that's what powers all of it. That stuff also keeps their cities afloat so literately this is what is keeping them alive. The problem is that the stuff is only found in the skies, and not just in the realm of metal (where the Kharadron originally come from)

This almost made me throw up, just imagining it.

When you bury your face in the butt crack of a hooker that has been walking the streets all night.... yeah, that.

I at least hope that this thread has inspired people to get out and smell things.

Wait, no, not that, ever.
