I'm putting together a Death Korps army and I'd love to put some little bits of barbed wire and other similar things on their bases, to add that, "no-mans-land" WWI feel to them. Anyone know a site I can get that kind of thing from, that also ships to Aus?

Army Painter has a generic line of basing materials that shouldn't be too expensive or hard to find. You could always DIY; barbed wire and rubble are two of the easier things to pull off. For rubble you can use a lot of things. Bits of balsa wood, cut-up sprues, foam board and foam cut into little shapes etc. Barbed wire can be easily done by braiding two strands of wire together, then twisting another strand of wire around and forming loops with it. Then you can snip the loops to create the barbs.

Warlord games do 'barbed wire', its actually a form of packing wire, but can't for the life of me work out the name.

Its something Warlord sell in a little packet for 'x' when you could likely get a 100m reel for not much more if you knew what it was called

For rubble? Broken up bits of sprue with a couple of different sizes of "ballast" (i.e. pretty sand for model railroads). You can get ballast dirt cheap by the bag from Woodland Scenics. Numerous companies make fake barbed wire.

Thanks for the quick replies guys! Rubble sounds easy with the cut up sprues and stuff so I'll try that out and I'll check out Army Painter/Warlord for barbed wire, but likely try and DIY it myself with the technique Luciferian suggested.

Hasslefree Miniatures also sell Etched Brass Barbed Wire which is dead easy to use.

I put cork board in a blender for rubble. Mix until you get the grade you want.

Gale Force 9 makes a container of rubble, and also three different barbed wire gauges.

As a general rule...don't buy anything that's "pre made" rubble etc. It's likely to be 10x more expensive than buying the components and assembling yourself. Be wary of stuff like GW's "basing sand!" which is just a tiny amount of ballast types mixed...and sold for egregious amounts of money.

For barbed wire I use pipe cleaners. Burn the fluff of with a lighter. Wrap it round a pencil. Cut to size. Dry brush with silvers and orange/browns. Looks good to my eye.
Any minors reading this, don't start burning stuff without parental consent .

Its fairly easy to make with hydrocal plaster. flat square mold. pour. dry. pound with hammer to make chunks of concrete

alternatively linoleum floor tiles for like 50 cents each for a square feet at the home depot. bend and break them apart to make broken concrete

cork works well to its cheap.

for barbed wire get some thin guage wire and twist.
