Of all the things The Beast destroyed about my beautiful Necrons, the loss of Pariahs stung the most. Well I'm done taking it laying down. I did an initial test model and it came out spectacularly. I will therefore be making an entire squad. Take that, Great Destroyer! My legions will not bend to your retcons!

I used a Lychguard as a base, and kept the legs and torso separate to work them. The chest piece is the front bit of a Tomb Blade, but I only had 4- One short for my squad of 5, so I had to improvise for one of them, as seen. As for why they have no heads, I'm waiting for some Puppetswar Cyber Undead heads to arrive, which look very good for Pariahs.

That is awesome!!

Here is the funny thing - I used most of my old Pariahs as lychguard....

can't wait to see more!

Very impressive! Not many people remember the Pariahs. This is very cool.

Really like what you've done with these! Can't wait to see the finished items

The boob armour on one does irk me slightly. Maybe it's because it doesn't match the rest and it's my OCD kicking in

WIth limited options, the clever kitbasher must still find a way! I actually used this technique (Even the same bitz, the bracers from two spare voidblades) on my vargard conversion and while it does look odd unpainted once everything is set in place it looks nice if I do say so.

Speaking of which, the bodies are painted and based. Just waiting on those darn Puppetswar heads...

I really like the beefy aesthetic that they have! Gives good variance, specially since most of our army has the same feel to them. I know Lych/Praets are physically bigger than most models height wise, they dont feel bulky and as imposing as they should be.

Youve definetly captured that here!

Actually this is no longer true. Warriors are mindless drones, and immortals are pretty stripped-down as well, but everyone else still has who they are before biotransferrence.

Also, as I explained, only had 4 of those tomb blade prows but needed a 5th pariah. Necessity is the mother of invention.

Ohhh you dont know what Pariahs are!

Alright, back before The Beast unleashed the 5th edition codex for Necrons (This was right before 6th) there was a special unit of Elites Necrons could take that were melee focused. These were Pariahs. The story behind these guys is that blanks (Or nulls, or whatever you want to call them; The anti-warp guys) are actually carrying a gene that was seeded into humanity by the Necrons before the Great Sleep so they could be used as weapons against the Warp. The ultimate destiny of a blank, according to the Necrons, was to become a Pariah, which is a human Necron. THey take the blank, and put it in a special Necron shell, where it retains its anti-warp field but is now harder better faster stronger and can be used as anti-psykers or shock troops (Because they still retain that aura of dread). They were some seriously nasty dudes, able to violently murder anything short of THSS termies- And even that matchup was going to be a hard-fought battle (And if you were also able to actually get them INTO combat seeing as they had to walk). If you ever get the chance to play Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, if you play as the Necrons, your narrator is Tomas Macabee, a Pariah. Pariahs retain full sentience, self-awareness, and self-motivation, though exactly how much real free will they have is up in the air (Not enough to rebel, but probably enough to think for themselves and rationalize said lack of that particular free will as their own motivations).

Its actually quite odd they did away with them in the new 'dex because with the surge of Psykers, and Necrons having no psykers of their own, having a unit that could reliably shut down psykers in an area would have been very useful. Instead we get a gloom prism which, even with the 7e buff, is pretty underwhelming for this purpose, though it is in fact better than nothing.

So basically Pariahs represented the full existential terror of the Necrons, taking living, breathing people and turning them into mind-controlled husks of their former selves that spread horror and death wherever they go. Basically, they were awesome and one of the coolest things about the Necrons. Our Spiritual Liege, however, could not have anything exist that was that cool that was also not Ultramarines, so it was scrapped and we got a bunch of HQs who are jokes or trolls and all the cool Lovecraftian elements were stripped out to give us Tomb Kings But In Space.

This is why I've made my own Necron faction that resembles Oldcrons a bit more, and these guys have Pariahs. They might not have psychic null fields but they'll do just fine for me.

I use Vallejo, so its a coat of Royal Purple, then Hexed Lichen, then a 1-1 mix of Hexed Lichen and Dead White.

Absolutely fantastic conversion there mate, especially love your choice of the heads. Very pariah-esque. GW made a mistake scrapping them, and the whole terminator (the movie) necron vibe. I much preferred them as mindless murderer killer machines.

Also I'd recommend you take better photos. Some are blurry, and some of the shiny silver parts of the mini are reflecting light from the cardboard surrounding it.

It's great to see someone else doing Pariahs! Like the choice for the heads, personally, I did the tedious and annoying task of face swapping sanguinary guard with necrons.

Can't wait to see how yours come out!

Ten business days is a typical timeframe. Note, Ten Business Days. If there's delays, it can go upwards of 4-6 weeks, but that's not very common this time of year, that happens mostly in December area.

Is that just for shipping or from start of order? Because the order was placed on April 29th, but it shipped on the 11th of this month.

These pictures aren't great, the lighting was no good. I'll retake them when conditions are better, but for now:

++Tarkus Valtine- Krieg Korpsman++
"So much blood. My legacy is soaked with so much blood. Blood, and sin, and shame, just like everyone else from Krieg. I've committed yet another atrocity to stain my heritage with, but what does it matter now? Its not like I had any righteousness to lose. I know what is waiting. I know what would consume us all. Its all so much bigger than any of us ever knew. We're all just... Specks. Falling forever in the dark. But maybe my dying ember can burn the dark. Just a little bit. That would be enough. Before, all they could take from me was my life. Now, they can't take that either. I am coming for them."
Capture: Tarkus would gladly have died with his squad, but the WIshmaster had different plans for him. Tarkus was surprisingly pliable to the visions used to secure the loyalty of the Perfected, all things considered, and this is likely due to his extremely low self-worth. To clarify, he is not seeing a higher personal glory, but rather, his brain responded with a way to make a difference for perceived wrongdoing of the past, seeing his own imposed worthlessness as a way to justify it.

-------------------------------------------------
Dymetri Petrov- Vostroyan Firstborn
"My parents hid me, or, what I was. I was offered up, as is required, and I pledged my life fully to the Guard- But they weren't told about my peculiarities. I was ready to fight and die for the Emperor... But now, I am not so sure. I have seen so much. Too much, perhaps, and maybe that is why I think this way. Maybe I have gone mad? It does not matter now. What I have seen, the horrors that were shown to me, the visions, the fall that we face if we do not fight- My brothers, they do not even know it exists. But now I do. And I will see these horrors destroyed."
Capture: Petrov was difficult to capture, as obtaining him on his homeworld was excessively difficult, and this is where he was put. a series of scenarios had to be rigged (resulting in the expenditure of an amount of mindshackle scarabs Kherevier stated was "exorbitantly expensive" and Tovalekh calculated was "Likely to be discovered") but Siilekteth's subtlety is not to be trifled with. A simple reassaignment, and Petrov was within grasp.

-------------------------------------------------
Silvus Indrim- Ordo Xenos, Xenos Hybris
"Its an interesting state, this one. I know what I was, but I am not that any more, and yet I am. But at the same time, I have become so much more. To be granted this form is a privelege, and a burden, as now I am pitted fully against the works that would befall the galaxy, and there are so many, and they are so large. Simply knowing the depth of their existence is its own burden, but it is my responsibility and perhaps even destiny to meet the doom of Man on the field of battle and smite it down. The Emperor is merely one large player- I see that now. But we will all play a part before it is done."
Capture: To call this a capture is a misrepresentation. Siilekteth already knew of Silvus's fascination with Necron technology and his urging to incorporate it into Imperium designs, so when the Wishmaster came to him, it was not in a violent flurry of bloodshed or a subversive trick, it was a simple proposition. The situation and transformation were laid out plainly, and Silvus, intrigued, accepted without a struggle on the condition that he be given insights into biotransferrence..

-------------------------------------------------
Sister Perditia- Sister Repentia
"I have found my path to absolution. It came not through my order, but through a higher purpose. I serve under a new mistress now [sic, Arahket, whom she has oddly bonded to over Siilekteth], who fights the existential threats that seek to drown our galaxy. I see now that our heresy runs deeper than any could know, and only the oldest foes of the horrors that dwell within the warp will burn it from existence. The Emperor has shown me the path, and delivered me into the hand that will clasp the avatars of sin by the throat and squeeze them until the echoes of their final pleas for mercy have died between the stars. May I be His willing weapon in this."
Capture: Perditia is perhaps the single most difficult capture Siilekteth has made so far, simply because under no conditions would she allow her capture. Combine this with a very clever ability to form escape plans on the fly and very proficient combat skills, and she was nigh-impossible to take alive. Siilekteth chased her across several worlds until she finally took the Repentia oath, seeing his haunting of her as proof that she had somehow sinned, and once she had isolated and disarmed herself so, she was much easier to catch off-guard.

-------------------------------------------------
Devon "Haze" Dantius- Hiveworld organized crime member
"I dunno when I first found out. Maybe, 8 years? Right after ducking out of some inquisitor's psyker's vision. What a setup that job was. Anyways, after, my associates informed me that the psyker had tried to zap me sorry arse, only for the bolt to kind of just, fizzle out once it got close enough. After that, I got some very special jobs, and became good at what I did. Inquisition folks came, tried to round me up. Wasn't having that, no sir. Laid low. But there wasn't any hiding from him. He came, and he showed me what I could be. So now thats what I am, see? Got a good purpose, and immortality to boot! Beat that offer."
Capture: Devon was also a difficult capture, if only because simply finding him without exposing oneself was a hefty task. However, as is the case with most underworlds, the trick to finding someone is finding the right string to pull, then pulling it until you get to the end. The Wishmaster eventually figured out who Devon was working with, and some well-placed threats, murders, and bribes of technological baubles quickly found him face to face with Devon, who put up a spirited fight but was ultimately overcome.

-------------------------------------------------
The Perfected take the best of both worlds- A Necron's durability and a Blank's warp anathema- and fuse them into a single unholy creation of metal and hate. The physical creation of a Perfected is the easy part. Finding a blank and taking it is much harder. Getting the blank's mind to cooperate is by far the single most difficult act (In most cases; See Silvus Indrim). Coercing their cooperation is a multi-stage process, the first step of which is the implantation of the visions the Eternity Calculator has projected about the end of the galaxy. This is performed by a neural uplink located in the Wishmaster's right hand. By grabbing a sufficiently pliable (Either through exhaustion, compliance, or other means that can mentally weaken them but leave them wholly in control of their thoughts- No mindshackle scarabs!) target by the head, he can in just a few seconds download into the target's brain the Eternity Calculator's predicted doom. This breaks the target mentally, usually instantly. The second stage is a complex "thought guidance" program. This program tracks the target's mental state, and subtly coerces it to come to a set of conclusions that make sense for the individual in question which justify them accepting becoming a Pariah. This line of reasoning is usually different for everyone, but once instilled, becomes concrete. At this point, they are transferred into their new bodies, whose neural pathways are engineered to prevent them changing their minds on the subject. The result is the same personality, cleverness, skill, and even identity of the person they once were, now subtly mind controlled using ideas they thought were their own.
