Hello Dakka,
I recently built a 2000 point Tzeentch list and got to try it out over the weekend. Certain aspects worked well and others... not so much. I am looking to replace and shift a few things and would like some advice.
The mainstay of my army is casters, horrors, and a big blob of 20 Chaos Warriors with shields. The Chaos Warriors act as my "anvil" so to speak. They are incredibly resilient. So, as the title suggests, I need a "hammer" unit to deal the damage once I have a few units locked in combat with them. I have plenty of medium strength shooting (horrors, burning chariots) as well as magic damage. But I need either a big monster to smash face, or a big unit of hard-hitters to smash face. Preferably something fast with rend and multiple damage. If it's a daemon, even better. My list, with the elements taken out is:
LEADER / BEHEMOTH
Lord of Change - 300
Warlord
Baleful Sword
Ogroid Thramaturge - 160
Gaunt Summoner with Familiars - 120 (100 w/o familiars)
Chaos Sorcerer Lord - 140
BATTLELINE
Chaos Warriors (20) - 360
Shield and Sword
Pink Horrors (10) - 140
Pink Horrors (10) - 140
OTHER
Burning Chariot of Tzeentch - 160
Burning Chariot of Tzeentch - 160
This gives me 320 points to play around with. Some options I have considered are:
- Daemon Prince of Tzeentch (160)
- Mutalith Vortext Beast (220)
- Blue / Brimstone Horrors for "split" rule and to link to a big caster monster for extra wounds. (50 pts /10 models and 40 pts/10 models) These are SUPER annoying to get rid of.
- Tzaangor Skyfires (160 / 3 models)
- Tzaangor Enlightened (160 / 3 models)
- Additional Burning Chariot (160) to make a squad of 3 and use the "Fold reality" spell to always ensure they are in good numbers.
Are there any other big units that could work? Should I swap out the Ogroid for the Daemon Prince in general? He keeps getting sniped before he makes it into combat (understandably).
Suggestions? Thanks.
