I dunno for sure - but I just got an email from them - and damn near every WM/H is on clearance sale for the next 2 days
http://www.miniaturemarket.com/searchresults?q=privateer+press#/?_=1&filter.product_tag=Clearance&page=1
Seems like such a sale would be against PP's new terms of sale they launched last year (that MM clearly disliked). But even a lot of new releases are on sale, and I know MM just started carrying GW again. If so - it's a pretty funny turn of events - MM - sick of GW's crap - drops them and goes big on WM/H. Then like, 2 years later GW reforms somewhat and PP starts acting like GW of old - so they drop PP and pick back up GW.

I would hazard a guess that almost all of that WM/H still is packing mk 2 cards. So it would be very much in MM's tradition to sell them at steep discount to make something off of them to make room for more mark 3.

This.
They immediately have stock again of things they sold out yesterday.

Have their cards been errated? I haven't looked at the recent errata document. Has PP started shipping models with erratad Mk.III cards?

Overstock really, anything listed as having 16 or more in stock where massively discounted.

Don't think PP will ever ship anything with errata'ed cards. Doesn't seem to be worth it with the rate things are being errata'ed.

Seems weird that they will not sell errataed cards then on their own store. I was thinking the costs for producing may have been considered not worth the effort for them.

They've stopped putting ANY cards in their product now actually. Cards are all digital or print them off yourself from their site.

Weird though - PP won't let them sell at more than a 10% discount - but it's OK for them to dump a ton of stock at like 30-50% off?

It's been a while since I went over PP's anti-online retailer policy, but IIRC they dictated that retailers can't regularly go below a certain discount, but that left the door open for the occasional big sale.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy. |

Discount Games said when he asked about one time and clearance sales in the past he was told it was not allowed. After this MM things he asked them and they said he could match their sale. Pretty sure MM is doing this against the rules but they've been pretty vocal about flaunting the rules already so no surprise. My guess is they'll get a warning or something to watch it.

I guess they figure with GW letting them sell, they don't really need PP anymore

I'm thinking that there are several factors in play for MM.
1. GW online sales are back, which will generate a good amount of business with 8th coming up. So freeing up space in the warehouse is a good idea. Which also gives them more liquid cash to purchase items that will sell quickly.
2. It's never a bad thing to get rid of stagnant stock.
3. CID is probably slowing down a lot of people's purchasing (I know it's stopped mine pretty much completely).

Play testing for upcoming balance changes basically. Players can register, get given the updated rules and then they provide feedback after playing around with 'em.

Pretty much this. Only on a really big scale. They just finished with the SR 2017, and have now been working on the Battle Engines. Like my beloved Gun Carriage is basically no where near the same model anymore. They will be bringing out trolls soon then other factions etc. So it feels like everything is constantly in flux.

I'm not a fan of buying a model and play testing for free, what PP should be doing themselves. Yes, it sounds great! The community now has a hand in play testing rules for models... that may or may not have the same rules I paid for. I only play a couple times a month- why should I play one of those games as a "play test game"? I want to play the game I paid for, not the game that might someday be good. If PP had simply developed MK III the way it should have been, then this wouldn't be going on now.

I get PP using the CID as a mia culpa for the way MKIII was released. I'd have preferred if they had gone the route of their older style of play testing where they had a sign up and audition (they would send you inherently flawed rules to see if your group could figure out what was designed incorrectly) It would have made a lot more sense, given them a larger test pool outside of the offices and not created the feeling of constant unease that the CID has.

They still have a playtest group like that. The CID is for later stage testing, similar to how the Mk2 playtest worked. Just, you know, for everything ever, a month or two before their rules are finalized.

I think it's awesome for new/upcoming releases. I have a major issue with it going back and revisiting everything. It puts all of my purchases in a state of unknown. (well that sounds a bit hyperbolic) I just want to be able to build and practice a few lists for a months to get them down and ready for tournament play, not having to worry about what crazy changes are coming down the pipe.
