GAME 5: KILL TEAM – GUARD vs DRUKHARI

FORCES: The Dead Men of the Guard consist of Sgt. Stabbity (carapace, camo), six veteran troopers (hotshots, telescopic/red-dot sights, camo), and three plasmagunners (telescopic/red-dot sights, carapace, camo).

The Drukhari team was made up of nine of wyches with basic pistols and melee weapons. Two carried special melee weapons and grenades.

PRE-BATTLE: The outcome was decided in the deployment phase when the wych team chose the eastern table edge as their DZ, leaving the Dead Men with a bastion in the western DZ. All ten guardsmen camped out on the roof.
Spoiler:

BATTLE: The wych cult did their best to keep out of line of sight as they approached the bastion and took only two casualties. Their only hope was to send their two grenadiers out into the open area around the bastion and lob grenades onto the roof, causing enough injuries and falls to lead to the guard failing a bottle test before they did.
Spoiler:

Unfortunately for the wyches, one grenadier was cut down by overwatch fire, and the other was cut down after her grenade missed. The wyches retreated back into the shadows before they could take any further losses.

AFTERMATH: The Dead Men acquired carapace armour for some of their troopers and Sgt. Stabbity finally got around to acquiring a gun. Plasmagunner Sheldon resented being crammed into such tight quarters for an entire battle and went for a jog to unwind, increasing his movement rate by 1”.

GAME 6: KILL TEAM – GUARD vs HARLEQUINS

FORCES: This time the Dead Men would be taking on the same harlequins they faced in game 1. The harlequins committed four of their six warriors to the fight. All were armed with a variety of pistols and exotic close combat weapons.

PRE-BATTLE:
Spoiler:

The Dead Men took up positions along the western edge of the board.
Spoiler:

The Sergeant and his plasmagunners took a position on the roof of a factory in the northeast corner, where they’d have decent sightlines.
Spoiler:

The carapace troopers took elevated positions where they’d have a passable view of the southern approach. Troopers Deadeye and Ducky deployed on the ground where they could act as bait.

The harlequins deployed in two-man teams out of LOS behind buildings on the western side of town.
Spoiler:

BATTLE: The harlequins kept out of sight for the first round of their approach, but lost one member to plasma fire on the second round. By round three, decoy Ducky was charged and cut down on the south side. Hotshot fire downed one Virtuoso as she dashed away from Ducky’s body towards the Sergeant’s position, but when decoy trooper Deadeye tried to move in to finish off the downed xeno, he was struck with paralyzing fear and was unable to do anything. Immunity to pinning, strong invulnerable saves, and multiple wounds protected the second of Ducky’s attackers, and she was able to clear out the southernmost troopers on her own.

To the north, plasmagunner Sheldon saw an opportunity to move forward and rain plasma fire down onto the head of the Troupe Master from point-blank range, but the plucky guardsman botched a 1” jump and was taken out of action. The Troupe Master simply leapt up to the rooftops and butchered the defenders one or two at a time, protected from retaliatory lasfire and knife-blows by his inhuman close combat ability, pinning immunity, strong invulnerable save, and three wounds.

Within seconds, the terrified Trooper Deadeye found himself alone and looking up at the Harlequin who had nearly single-handedly taken out his entire force. He failed his bottle test and fled.

AFTERMATH: The two wounded Harlequins made full recoveries and received skill/stat advancements.

Of the full ten-man squad of Guardsmen who went into the fight, only four recovered well enough to carry on. Things are looking rather grim for the Dead Men…

Spoiler:

Games 7 (Assassin vs Inquisition) and 8 (Orks) can be found here.
Games 9 (Inquisition) and 10 (Orks) can be found here.
Game 11 (Orks) can be found here.
