Lots of effects place you outside 9" of an enemy can those units also assault the same turn ?

Yes, just need to roll a 9-12... So odds are not with you.

isn't it an 8+ since you only need to get within 1"

Yes, but you have to be more than 9 inches so technically a charge roll 8th fails by a tenth of an inch.

No because you need to be >9 away, not =9.

It looks like a viable strategy, which is also why they kept random charge distances. Though some armies (chaos/orks) seem to have an easier time than others doing it.

You deepstrike more than 9" from an enemy unit.

your mind

This is one thing that I like a lot about the new rules. Grey knights teleporting around and so on keeping 9" distances. Lots of risky maneuvers to up the suspense.

T'au EWO is going to have a wonderful edition.
Can't drop enough units to overwhelm them, anything can wound anything, no dropping units the T'au can't hurt to thin their gunlines.
Bright side is they have to use twice as many markerlights to ignore cover.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

One thing that's nice is that you can use a Command Point to re-roll the low dice if you really need to get that DS-charge off.

You do need to roll a 9 minimum if terrain is in your favor. So only 1/4th chance of getting there, to which the enemy can simply walk away from the fight on their turn. And with stealer cult now instead of a 6 on cult ambush meaning you can charge a 6 just means you can place 9 away according to the wording of the faction focus. Which combined gives GSC a 4% chance to ambush successfuly.
