Hello everyone, I think my last game of 40k was 2nd edition. I had the box with all the lasgun Gretchen (or grots) the classy cardboard dreadnought, and the two squads of blood angles.

Anyway, last Christmas I randomly stumbled across a games workshop store above a shopping mall, and wow... So much more expensive but the miniatures are now incredible. Just gorgeous. I impulse brought three boxes of the space wolves battleforce boxes and now I'm desperately trying to glue them together for the new edition. So right there with you all, it's the perfect time to jump back in.

My girlfriend who I expected to have no interest popped into the store with me and fell in love with the Dark Elder, so now I have two armies, a 6x4 gaming table and a load of terrain in the post. (Really hope she's not humouring me!)

No idea about the painting side of things, but I'm going to take that side of things slow and enjoy the game first.

Very excited about eighth. Can't wait to get the new start set on the 17th.

Hi! welcome to dakkadakka! As an odd coincidence, I have one of those old 2nd Ed starters on the hobby desk right now, which I'm getting ready to use for my first game of 8th, complete with the cardstock deff dread. Good times. If you get around to painting your minis, you should consider posting pics up in the P&M section,. We'd love to see your work

Thanks guys,

I will definitely post my efforts, loving the site. It's a spur to get on with making the army, brought the paints today and built a good portion of the minis. Read the ork stats today and wow.... they seem really improved from my limited understanding.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

IceAngel wrote:I must say Knightley, I am very envious of your squiggle ability. I mean, if squiggles were a tactical squad, you'd be the sergeant. If squiggles were an HQ, you'd be the special character. If squiggles were a way of life, you'd be Doctor Phil...

Hi! Welcome! You're lucky, I wish my gf had an Interest in the hobby. Warhammer tv has great easy painting toutorials just using paint brushes and citadel paints. Kenny at Next level painting on YouTube use paint brush and airbrush if you want to get into that. He also uses a ton of different brands of paints and methods. Anyways, good luck!

KillerPenguin, It's a mixed blessing. She barely earns anything so I have to buy twice as many miniatures. But I want to encourage her interest and it'll be cool to have someone to play at home with. But why Elder?!? She's already looking at the rules for the craftworld ones and asking if she can mix them in with her army. I hated Eldar in second edition, everyone played them because they were supposed to be the most OP faction at the time. The fluff said they were a dying race... not when I played them!

Hi. Welcome to Dakka

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum
