I'm sure this has been asked a bunch recently, but I can't find it in any threads. I just want to clarify.
If a Tervigon replaces Termagants that were killed earlier in battle, do you have to set aside points for these models?
The rulebook section on reinforcement points only talks about adding units to your army. The Tervigon rules say that you're adding models to an existing unit. Am I interpreting this correctly? If not, the main reason for taking a Tervigon seems pretty useless in matched play.

As written it implies reinforcing the models does not cost points, my local GW guy has also confirmed this. However, as you state, adding a new unit to the army does cost points.

Which makes the Horrors of Tzeentch having to pay for their replacement models completely ridiculous.

It's ridiculous that one player doesn't get extra models for free?

Arguably it's because the new horrors form a new unit. I agree that it seems real crappy. But that is what it is.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Its not as bad as it seems. Terivgon at bare minimal points with no upgrades is 250 pts. Almost as much as the Warmlord and seriously worse. The major boon is you're spending in some cases almost a 20% of your army to spawn or reinforce one of the worst units in the game.
But I do love it. I fully intend to use two of these bad boys and buying a few squads to spawn midgame in addition to using them to beef up my gaunt squad casualties.

How is pink horror replacement worse than free termagaunts?
GW should have just factored price to the pink horrors flat out.

GW effectively DID factor price to the Pink Horrors. They just shifted part of that price to Blue Horrors and Brimstone Horrors. It sounds like you just want the Pink Horrors to cost more and the others to cost less. The overall points you'd need to spend for a full unit of splitting horrors is the same either way. GW's way allows you to use the set aside reinforcement points for something other than Horrors if needed. It's more tactically flexible. Your method would be less so.

For the pink horrors, see it differently. Look at it as buying an upgrade for your pink horrors. You have the choice to extend its use beyond its dead. For the price of 1.4 pink horrors you can buy the full upgrade to extend its use after with 4 additional wounds in 4 additional models.

So presumably there's no other way to bring in blue and brim horrors? No summoning, not simply deploying them flat out? Because if there are that makes mockery of points and shows GW has no grasp of how game works as splitting is worth much less than they would be otherwise. It's the worst way to bring models on the table!
