Sorry if I've missed another thread talking about this but it seems that the drop pod rules in the leaded Space Marine rules don't allow Dreadnoughts to use them.
I've also noticed that Primaris marines cant use any transport whatsoever.
Maybe the Dreadnought union representatives have complained to Guilliman about the cramped conditions and are insisting on a bigger drop pod.
I'm betting there's going to be a Primaris Drop pod and that dreads will have to use to deploy now.
Thoughts?

We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.

What better way than to sell you models
But also, it means they can give dreadpods new points cost i am guessing.

Primaris 'drop' in the Repulsor - except for Inceptors who just jump out of the space ship in orbit!
I'm hoping for a plastic Dreadnough Drop Pod, as the FW mold has been broken for a while now.

GW never produced a model for the Dreadnought Pod (this was FW)
They made clear that no rules in 8th if there is no model
so nothing special about it, just hope it is in the FW Index Book (but also FW does not sell the Dreadnought Pod any more)

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Really, where? There's stuff that has no current model in 8th (Imperial Space Marine, for example).

So no problem, except your local group does not allow FW models....

the special collectable Mini?
of course it had a model in 7th (8th is not out yet) and they said it on the initial FAQ, everything that has a model in 7th get rules in 8th
So stuff like Vendetta (ForgeWorld) and Dreadnought Pod (ForgeWorld) got no rules

No, Vendetta
it was a optional configuration of the Valkyrie with laser instead of missiles, but the model kit did not come with those.
an upgrade kit was profited by FW.
therefore, the Vendetta upgrade for the Valkyrie entry is gone now and you need the FW Index (and FW models allowed) if you want to play it.
So everything that had rules but no specific model or options in the model kit, got no rules for 8th

I'm not pleased with Dreadnoughts not being able to ride in pods. I have 6 pods, 3 of them were built with no harnesses or center column to make them look more capable of fitting one inside somehow.
If they do make a dread pod hopefully it takes up a similar "open doors" footprint as a normal pod and I'll use these as "counts as."
I have 6 dreads, and I don't see how I can get an Ironclad behind the lines anymore without a Stormraven.
Dreads need a deepstrike upgrade. "Sarcophagus Drop," or something, works like everyone else's deepstrike alternative.

Just like Rough Riders, eh? Automatically Appended Next Post: verticalgain wrote:Dreads need a deepstrike upgrade. "Sarcophagus Drop," or something, works like everyone else's deepstrike alternative.
That would be nice. I had one of my Space Marine army strategies built around Drop Podding a Dreadnought and moving up support to assist it. That tactic doesn't work so much anymore.

Really? They were kept around for that long? I thought they had just removed them way back when. How about that.

This isn't a reference to the special Dread Drop Pod Model. Dreadnoughts have been able to use standard pods for several editions now. That rule disappeared in the 8th edition marine index and it has a pretty big impact on any existing marine army predicated on using pods to deliver dreads.
I agree/hope that a dread-specific pod is coming from GW in the near future as that was a unique capability for marine dreadnoughts .
