Subject: Dropzone Commander Table My 5x4 City Table - N Scale/10mm

October 2015 to June 2017 – this is my Masterpiece.
Dakka Dakka Blog Thread: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/701705.page
Album of how I unpack and setup the table: http://imgur.com/a/daC3i
What am I looking at??:
A 5x4 Wargaming table for Dropzone Commander by Hawk Wargames inspired by The Last of Us
The 10mm structures are built from a majority of HWG resin (they sell on their site), foamcore, and cardstock
The Modular Overpass is from Blotz (uk) 10mm Custom Lasercut - wonderful company 10/10. Quickest international shipping I've ever witnessed for how cheap it was.
Table is a 5x4 - made from triple layered foamcore. This is extraordinarily dumb, but I wanted a lightweight board that I could store, dig into, and toss if I decided to redo it or I ruined it by accident. I've built a dozen or so tables, hardboard+pink insulation foam, wood, or full 3/4" mdf, and honestly foamcore isn't that bad as long as you layer it. Six tiles; I can toss this in a small bag and it weighs nothing. I spent a few hours fixing this issue.
Why Adeptus Titanicus?
At a Battletech player with no friends that play - and a young lad during the days of Epic Armageddon - I decided to preemptively start building the city for both games. Can't wait to see more leaks!
Why Dropzone Commander?
From the few demo games I've had - I was impressed. It reminded me of an actual tactical strategy game and I loved the flow of it. It also reminds me of Command and Conquer / Total Annihilation / Supreme Commander from my childhood. Ace game, and when you flip through that rulebook you immediately want to play on something better than cardstock starter kit buildings.
Goal: I wanted to make a table that rivals ED-209b's dream table ( http://www.hawkforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=4348&start=100) - I have a long way to go before I can compete with that.
A few things I didn't like about his city:
* How clean everything was
* I don't want to paint white lines on the streets
* No " 40k city fight" look to the streets/structures
* Lack of overgrowth/craters/dirt
However - he is FAR more talented then I am (technically and as a painter). This is also why I need to make up for his level of painting detail for dirt/damage/rust/flock and to not rush anything.

Outstanding!
I actually saw this on Reddit earlier today and was amazed. Seeing the additional close up shots makes the table even more impressive.
Truly great work, this table has so much detail that I think it would be fun to just walk around and admire it, never mind actually playing a game on it.
As a fellow Battletech fan I'd love to drop some `Mechs on that table and have a brawl.

Am struggling to think of superlatives that will cover just how good this looks.
All I can say is it must have been a real labour of love, there is just such a level of detail there.
Stunning work, I am sure it will be a joy to play on.

Amazing work! Great overall feel to the table, great combination of open spaces and closed spaces. The street layout really looks playable! I love the worn out look you have given it. It looks long abandoned/fought over for years. Thanks for sharing!

Keeping the hobby side alive!
I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage. |

That thread was nuked by moderators for being "Fan Art" actually. I technically didn't create the game Dropzone Commander or the models so it's not my original work.

Well if that isn't the stupidest thing I've heard today...
Stupid Reddit moderators aside, you have a kick ass piece of ART on your hands.

In terms of gaming, we had to switch up deployment a bit. The city was a CLUSTERFETH as well. A bit annoying to fight under the overpass (had an awkward mortar squad walking around under it unable to shoot anything).I plan on using the overpass and some ruins as a marker to cut off a foot on the board as most DZC games are played on a 4x4.
In the future i'd like to add large hills or mats to cover the roads so it can be more of a rural setting

Working on an orky shanty town and some 10mm smaller warehouses/buildings now to fill out the board and allow me to play in a more "rural" setting
