So, I was convinced to split a Dark Imperium box, with a friend taking the Death Guard and I getting the Marines.

I put together one of the Interceptors, and I dont think I'm exaggerating much when I saw the person who designed the Interceptors' flight stands should be fired. I'm not sure if they thought people never play games before fully painting a model, or why they thought a critical joint between the miniature and base should resemble one of those novelty balancing birds stands.

Is anyone doing something about these flight stands? I'm considering just using wire and drilling through the bottom of the miniature instead.

I'm building them right now. The flight stands are rubbish. I put a chunk of terrain on the base and pin them from one foot to float above it.

yeah it seems REAAALLY fragile, I'm thinking of using some green stuff to reinforce the connection, cause as it stands I'm pretty sure the moment they go into a carry case they'll fall off, why they didn't give us a slot for the strut to sldie into on the mini is baffling.

Sounds like some terrain or some metal (brass) rods are going to be the trick.

Anyone have a pic of the connection?

for the record the fact that such an annoying/tricky connection is in the STARTER SET, is a major dissappointment to me. Imagine some poor kid trying to build this as his first project?

Maybe it'll be more stable then I think, it just feels fragile.

To be fair none of the flying bases have ever been great. The ball and socket ones break all the time. I did think these ones were supposed to actually be nice, though

I didn't think they were all that bad to assemble. I've fairly regularly attached models to clear flight stands before painting and then used painters tape to mask them. That said there's a good chance I'll snap them back off later this week and make my own out of plexiglass because I just assume these will be as brittle as the clear flight stands usually are.
