I haven't seen any rules for a plaguereaper (or Khorne tower of skulls) for 8th and thought about using the baneblade rules with one better BS as its piloted by marines and removing the autocannon and baneblade cannon and using the gorestorm cannon stats from the lord skulls for the pus cannon. Also including the Nurgling infestation rule from 7e. Thoughts?
What about using the stats for the Malcador Infernus' Inferno Gun with chemical fuel for the turret weapon instead? It's pretty similar, but feels more thematic for a pus cannon imo - 16" range, 2d6 autohits, AP-3, D1 and it wounds all non-vehicles on a 2+, but vehicles on a 6+. Use the points for a vanilla Banelade with however many sponsons you have, +40-50 for the nurgling infestation and increased BS.
Thanks for that idea; that does feel like a better fit for the pus cannon. The Nurgling infestation is hard to port over as now tanks can make attacks with their tracks are the Nurglings even needed? The +1 BS could be a trade off for losing the auto cannon and baneblade cannon which are much more powerful then the pus cannon. We play mostly with power level instead of points. Does this sound reasonable?
Maybe have the nurgling infestation be a separate weapon you can use in addition of the tracks that attacks 3d6 times with +1 WS but only strength 3 or 4. That's how I imagine it would be implemented in 8th edition.
I don't think the Baneblade cannon is that much stronger than the Pus Cannon because of how good 'flamers' are in 8th edition, so I'd still bump it up by one power level - +BS is pretty powerful on a big tank with lots of guns.
I just checked out the Nurgling stats and they're only S2. To keep consistent with the Nurgling stats; 3d6 with WS 4+, S2. So that gives the plaguereaper 31 power with the Pus cannon, +1 BS, and Nurgling infestation. I think this will work!
