Hey guys.

Returning Warhammer player here.

My question is.

Is it a solid strategy to field say 10 separate units of Razorwing Flocks?

10 units with 1 unit in each would be 70pts...

Every time 1 of those units die it triggers strength from death to a nearby squad.

Besides the downside of never getting the first turn does this work? Thoughts?

Cheers

It would depend on the detachment you take. As they are all FA options, you'll need to be choosy. Closest you could get is doing it across 3 Outrider Detachments, but then you need a minimum of 3 HQ's.

I think it's a reasonable sort of thing to do.

Though note that, as described, it's not legal. The Razorwing Flocks' data sheet says that a minimum unit is 3 models. The unit sizes in the appendices don't appear to have any rules significance -- the BRB is explicit that "Each unit's datasheet will describe how many models make up that unit" (p242).

Index: Xenos 1, page 56, under "Razorwing Flocks":

This unit contains up to 3 Razorwing Flocks. It may include up to three additional Razorwing Flocks (Power Rating +1) or up to 9 additional Razorwing Flocks (Power Rating +3). Each model is armed with claws and talons.

Clear as mud. Is it a unit of 1 to 3+, or of 3+ ?

Oh, you're right. My bad; I was reading it as just 3.
