Heya all. I've always liked big models. Knights, Battlesuits, flyers, tanks, dreadnaughts, etc. I'm looking to start a new project. Which armies have viable builds of large models? Terminator size and up. It doesn't have to be itc winning level, just looking for something to fool around with at local game nights.
Thanks!

Orks - stompa, gorkanaut, morkanaut, dreads, kans, meganobz
Battlewagons are a big chunky vehicle too.
If you go Forgeworld there are even more like the mega-dread.

Poor ignorant guardsmen, it be but one of many of the great miracles of the Emperor! The Emperor is magic, like Harry Potter, but more magic! A most real and true SPACE WIZARD! And for the last time... I'm not a space plumber.

A better question might be "who doesn't have interesting large-model centered builds?"
(Harlequins. Assassins. The Inquisition. DE/Craftworlders can try, but they're more limited than most. Battle Sisters. The Talons (Custodes/Sisters of Silence). Anything else you're probably good.)

Marine Dread army. Ranges from "small" standard boxnaughts, to medium sized Contemptors, and then "large" Leviathan and Deredeo Dreads (and the upcoming Primaris one). There's even an HQ Chaplain Dread. They're full of anger and firepower and fists. I've always been a big fan of Dreads, and this edition, as of right now, Dreads are finally back on the table.

Eldar wraithhosts. You're gonna need a spiritseer or two, but wraith units are big and fun.

Tau have tons of big suits, but the lists will be pretty weak and not able to do much outside of the most casual games.

The Exorcist is by far the prettiest thing that GW makes. But we still need infantry to ride our tanks.
Imperial Guard can field an army consisting entirely of tanks. If you like big things, and don't like Knights, then look no further than the Imperial Guard.
We obviously have the Baneblade and it's kin, which is an awesome model. Then there's the Foreworld Marcharius and Malcador tanks, and then the Leman Russes and Artillery.
We used to have the Armoured Battlegroup, which had tanks for troops, an we can still make an entire tank army using Tank Commanders as our HQ for Spearhead detachments. If you're a treadhead, look no further than here!
Unless you like stompy robots. We don't have stompy robots. But if you like stompy robots, there's Knights.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades! |
