Captured by chaos, poor shame. O' well, another Guard Regiment GW doesn't have to make models for.

I have it, but it says that Mordia is the only planet in that area that holds out? and that the siege is relieved. I didn't see anything about it being gone.

Unless i am missing something, which is always possible.

Nope, they end up abandoning the sector eventually.

They do get relieved and pushing back, but still end in them abandoning it.

It's not like GW has been making models for Mordians anytime recently...

Or really anything, besides Cadians. Hell, can we even say Catchatans any more?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also funny is that they don't produce Vallhalan's that in actuality was the first IG Regiment created lore wise.

Barf.

Utterly fed up the Eldar being the 'good' guys. Eldar got around the 'wimpy space elf' stigma by actually being manipulative evil little buggers...until now when it turns out they're apparently just like every other asinine elf trope. Boring.

Shame about Mordia. Would have been cool to have some more varied Guard models, and shouldn't have been too tricky with the design of kits these days. It's really not that hard to stick a couple of extra torso/head variants into a Guard Kit that are compatible with their other Guard kits to allow people to make whatever regiment they want.

I have been thinking though, due to the rights of colonisation by conquering Guard units there's probably thousands of mini-Mordias around the galaxy if people still want to play them. Same with Cadia.

I read it as the Dhobash system was abandoned, not Mordia.

The eldar intervention is specifically at Rimenok, which isn't actually on the maps.

I thought that was the Cadian line basically.

In actuality one could do a generic plastic set, then have torsos and heads that were different.

Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Yeah that would be awesome. One kit for Cadians say, and then a separate 'variety' kit with a ton of different heads, torsos and greebles to vary stuff up. As a serial kitbasher that would be fantastic

See that's what i thought too! It's written very unclearly, but the descriptive notes in the "armies of the imperium" and "forces of chaos" section do seem to indicate that the imperium lost the sector in the end.

I dunno, alll we are told is the stygius crusade failed and Rimenok was abandoned, thats not necessarily meaning the whole sector is lost, more likely just it remains contested
(That's assuming the Imperium listened to the Eldar, which they usually don't)

It's still a case of a somewhat flushed out IG unit, few and afar between, that is now on the outs with a maybe a lack of a planet now.

Pretty soon, all IG named unit planets will be gone or under attack. And there isn't too many that even have made models.

The point is to push them to the background as legacy so they can release a brand new range of not cadian with new names, gear and models for you to buy.

I'm not sure they'd even do that. Seeing as how Cadians are pretty much the only model they produce regularly in plastic beside some Catchatans, Guard become less and less pushed out model wise. Hell I bought the "Not" Mordians from Victoria Minatures just the other day only to read this stuff in the core.

problem is Cadians are too generic, I mean take a look at starship troopers. almost exactly the same look. nah IF I was looking to replace the line, I'd be inclined to go with something distinct. the Ultramar Auxilleria are a logical idea for a new flagship Guard unit, (being proably the most high profile guard unit that hasn't been detailed with it's own trooper line, and being so close to Gulliman a logical contender to roll out new kit to) but I think the backlash of making the new GUARD posterboys the Ultramar Auxilleria would be immense.

I think it is too much. While I don't foster the hate for Ultra Marines like others do, it would feel more like just a Marine supplement sort of thing than anything else. That and they look way too much like regular Cadians.

Being generic is exactly the reason why Cadians are the poster-boy Regiment. Like half the Regiments on the galaxy base themselves off of Cadians aesthetically and in methodology.

They represent the "Everyman" Regiment that give you maximum freedom to make Your Dudes whatever you want then to be. Part of that is having a relatively generic sci-fi look.

Every regiment is supposed to be unique, there isn't supposed to be any standardisation. The only reason you see Cadians (or Cadians with a different name) everywhere is because Cadians is the only thing GW sells besides Catachans (and who wants those?) and a few old metal miniatures.

I do think GW is going to do something about it. They are probably (hopefully) going to release new infantry kits and make it so that those kits represent the new standard equipment for all Astra Militarum forces (except iconic groups like the Vostroyans or DKoK). That way GW solves the fact that almost all IG forces currently (in tabletop and fluff) are Cadians, rids itself from the responsibility to have multiple model ranges for the IG and removes the fluff excuse for IG players using third-party miniatures.

I don't really mind what GW is going to do, as long as they get rid of the current Cadian and Catachan miniatures and replace them with something that at least tries to resemble normal Human body proportions.

Well then.

Looks like my regiment was conveniently off world. Might provide a good excuse to develop some variations for my army now that they won't be recruiting more Mordians to re-fill the ranks. I foresee some kilts in my future...

To be fair, this isn't the first time Mordian was besieged with all hope lost. The last time it was to a massive daemonic incursion that had taken over the majority of the planet with the defenders holding out in a last stand at the Tetrarchal Palace. Then the IN showed up with some reinforcements and the Imperium's psykers helped bring back the light of the Emperor. I can only imagine that the Iron Guard was fighting to the last, implacable and resolute in the face of impending doom.

Mordian still stands in our hearts.
