Of course now this is got me wondering what my favorite regiments (Tallarn and Valhalla) are doing in all this mess.

They're sitting around drinking some nice mugs of coffee and tanna.

wonder if GW's planning on eventually doing a new guard regiment, and claiming it's a universal kit, to dischourage people from shopping around for minis at 3rd party places

If they think we're that thick they can away and gargle Nurgle's leftover bathwater.

As to the topic - yet another reason to ignore the garbo new fluff.

I wouldn't call it garbage. There is a lot of cool stuff in it. If you say the new stuff is also garbage, you have to also include the garbage that is already in it.

Feed the poor war gamer with money.

What's left of Cadia

I'd like to know where the feth my Blood Ravens have been. Outside of the games and a small book series we've been doing jack all apparently. Besides dying that is.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

IMHO the best solution would be to push a brand new line of ultra generic Guard and then have a plastic kit with heads, torsos, arms, etc for each special regiment. Gets brand new stuff for new players and simultaneously allows a ton of customization.

This.

Here's how I'd do it to avoid one massive expensive kit with loads of unused bits.

One 'Cadian' Guard kit with 10 Lasgun arms, 10 cadian torsos, 8 standard legs, 2 greatcoaty legs, 5 bare heads, 5 helmeted heads and all the little standard greebles like grenades and suchlike.

Then, I'd do a Guard 'variety pack' with a load of little extra bits to make different Guard regiments. 5 Tallarny heads, 5 gasmask heads, 5 Catachan heads, 5 Vostroyan heads, 5 Mordian heads, 5 greatcoaty torsos, 3 greatcoaty legs, 5 dress uniforms, 5 bare Catachan torsos, 5 bare Catachan lasgun arms, 5 bespoke-looking lasguns and some other little greebly bits and pieces and you've damn near every Guard regiment covered. The idea would be to mix and match identifiable Regimental stuff in with the standard Guard stuff to make your dudes look Regimental.

With that partsmix you could make nearly everyone, even the more obscure regiments. Catachans + gasmask heads = Savlar Chemdogs, for instance
