So I keep looking at the Death Guard models from Dark Imperium and I've been debating if they're worth picking up. I've seen the whole Death Guard lot up for about $55 on ebay, which is a deal, but I'm debating the usefulness of the models. I have 6 squads of Plague Marines(finecast) already. The Poxwalkers seem worth getting. What about the characters and Bloat drone? Anyone use them in game yet? Are they worth picking up or should I just buy the Poxwalkers separately?

They certainly seem pretty solid

The real question is how are you with the models? What do you think about their size compared to your existing large collection? Do you want to paint them? In terms of game play, sounds like you already have a load of plague marines you can use.

They are gorgeous models tho.

The are very nice looking models, I'm a big fan so far. My only real complaint is that the dark imperium set doesn't have the blight launcher, and it was why I stuck with just the one set myself.

However, most of the death guard stuff isn't amazing at the moment. Poxwalkers are okay for what they are but honestly I prefer my old cultists so far. The blight drone is probably the best of the lot, and it's still merely okay (though recently it was pointed out it's actually decent as anti air, weirdly enough).. The HQ's aren't bad but they don't have much to work with at the moment. Plague marines are also way to expensive this edition.

Honestly, hard to recommend now outside of the sculpts themselves. They aren't awful though, just a bit expensive and generally suffer from DG themselves not being fleshed out properly as an army. Once point vvlaues get update and the new codex hits, will probably be a different story.

The new 3 man Plague Marine box has the Blight launcher, a Bolter guy, and a Power fist champ, so if you combine it with DI, you can make two 5 man units with a special weapon and a p.fist in each.

I am very happy with them, at least for the zombies

They are all very nice in hand.

though i bet multiples will cause it to roll down the uncanny valley since they are all fairly unique

once the multi piece starer comes out they should fit in very will.

I think I'm the only person on here who really doesn't like the new DG stuff: the models are sub-par on looks (especially the plague caster and pox walkers) and for mono-pose models the looks are quite a big part of the purchase and as for on the table top: I haven't seen them win. At all so far. I've played against them, and they're tough, but they don't have the fire power to stop you grinding them down. The only DG model I have been impressed with on the tabletop so far is Typhus and if you wanted his model I'd personally go to FW.

I guess my line of thinking is that if I pick up a few sets now while they're cheap, then their codex will drop and I'll be set to play them til a different chaos dex drops.

The overall looks of some of the models seem a little.....cartoony for Nurgle.

Yeah they're worth it, especially given the price
