Im starting a new 8th edition Ork Army.

What is a good start for 1500 points and what units/model work well together? Basically give me a good rundown on tricks and tactics!!

I will be ending up around 2500 or more after its all done so go ahead and bump it up if you want.

Thanks for the input.

Darth

This really comes down to your personal play style. (The most important thing I can say here).

Warboss and Big Mek are both good choices, though the WB gives a good buff for getting into melee faster.

Storm Boyz are good to get into the flanks or even attack units in the back field quicker.

Flash Gitz got buffed big time, with +4 to hit and ammo runts for all.

Battle Wagonz with Deff Rollers are awesome.

A Combi Scorcha an everyone that can take one. (So good now)

Things to note, you will need characters to buff units, so do not forget that, Nobz with War Banner are nice, Painboys are nice.

If you are going for fast units then bikes and Stormboyz are one way to go.

If you prefer a more blob army then 30 boy units are great as their Ld is equal to the number of models in the unit.

If you want to scare someone take a Stompa, or any of the deffdreads, Morks/Gorkanughts.

Lastly: there is not as of yet a go to list, but from just about every angle Orks are way better for all forms of play than they have been for the last few editions.

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

Gorkanaughts/Morkanaughts are good all rounders: good bit of shooting and can squish things in cc.

Ork blob units (30 Orks with a Warboss and Waaagh banner) are terrifying if you can get them into combat.

Weirdboys are a good way of transporting units forward quickly.

Not actually seen anyone try them but Mega Nobz with duel Killsaws look pretty good: 4x S10 AP-4 D2 attacks each with a weirdboy to catapult them forward? Yes they're -1 to hit and they're pretty expensive but they won't half open up anything you set them on.
