Hi folks

I'm trying to use my wraithknights from 7th as I don't really want to shelve them...

Could

2 x Autarch wind riders with fusion and laser lance 120 x2
1 with reaper launcher and laser. 134

3 x knights with heavy wraith cannons
1 with single scatter 517
1 with scatter/star 547
1 with dual star 562

Work in practice

Theory is the autarch shadow the knights giving re-rolls of 1's to hit and in reality just let the knights do all the work.

Reason for the odd load outs on the knights is it needs to fit my other lists

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I'd need to buy the Autarchs which is why I'm asking opinions prior to purchasing more plastic.

Thanks

Steve

you'd be better off getting a farseer jetunner in their somewhere to help with deny the witch rolls an casting Guide/Doom. Why not mix up some of your knight weapons too? Suncannon/scattershield would help knock out some of the numbers.

If you are going to do that kind of list why not make it ynnari and take yvraine. Can probably drop both autarchs and take a farseer as well. That will let you doom a unit and fortune a wraithknight then ancient grace one for rerolled 1s and word of Phoenix for second shot. With out psychic support wraithknights are overcosted but when you start spell slinging they get scary fast!

to be legal, he needs 3 HQ choices as he's taking the Supreme Command Detachment (3 HQ) and Super Heavy Detachment (3 Lords of war)

Yeah I was going for the 3 hq 3 lords of war.

Could swap out the bike autarchs for 2 cheaper ones with wings and fusion pistols.
And a farseer on bike

Do you need the bike? Are your lords going to be moving at top speed all the time? They have plenty of range, figure your HQs would be fine on foot. One Autarch with wings is great for things like grabbing the relic, but past that I cant see your other HQ selections needing the speed. You could easily grab Yvraine, a Farseer, and a winged autrach and buff the hell out of those knights.

Why is yvraine better at buffing than an autarch? His is an ability that doesn't need a test for the same re-rolling 1's outcome.

Am i missing something obvious?

Thanks

Well she is there more for Word of the Phoenix than the other powers.

Alas my list doesn't have any infantry or bikers other than the characters. Not sure I'd get much use out of the ability.

That's fine keep an autarch and drop 2 of them. Or take a cheap warlock.

Word of the Phoenix can currently target ynnari units, not necessarily just units that have strength from death.
So you have 3 big fat perfect targets to use word of the Phoenix on.
I would almost go so far to say that without it you won't have the rate of fire from 3 wraithknights to kill your opponent's forces. They are super expensive for what they do until you start throwing the buffs on them and getting more bang for your buck.

Power simply says 'friendly Ynnari unit' no mention of infantry or bikes.

The FAQ has changed that. no WotP on wraithknights! Only bikes, infantry and the Yncarne.

sorry to say that an autarch skyrunner with that setting is 138 pts
You must pay the twin linked catapult (10), and the force shield (8) :(

I do not believe this is correct. Both the main rule book and the index mention that you pay for a model by adding the cost of the model to the cost of the weapons. Then in the indexs you clearly see the wargear options that can be supplemented and their cost. Force shield is not listed as a wargear option for the autrach, it is simply listed as an ability, meaning it is something he simply has at no cost. The same is true of the hemlock wraithfight which lists spirit stones under abilities. You will find multiple instances since 8th in which experience players and tournaments have not believed that force shield on an autarch has a cost, and unlike the ruling on Word of the Phoenix, this rule was never mentioned in the FAQs so i assume you can take it as RAW.

I would sell 2 and field one, and still feel as if you are shooting yourself in the foot. Sorry, but 8th was harsh on Wraithknights :(
